Sounds good, but the laws of physics say otherwise.

Let us know what you actually get.

And even 30 mpg would be great for a 12A.

But way more fun than a Prius.

I did 33 once, 30 on a more regular basis, with a regular ol' Nikki.

Proper ignition timing and fuel conditioning.

Fuel economy went down when I went to EFI 13Bs but I'm getting a steady 25ish MPG with the bridge port, up to 28-29mpg when it's really hot out. (Engine gets best MPG with coolant temps in the 190-200f range, but it doesn't run that hot on the highway unless it's around 95-100F)

Why not both?

If you get 25mpg instead of 20mpg, then you get 25% more driving time per dollar. That equals more fun.

Thats an awfully blurry picture. Id love to see some better pictures and real road testing opinions. Rotary Shack was very vague on this carb when it was new. I seem to remember an argument thread many years ago about the claims of its performance and all he could come up with is we have people that are happy with it, but no real data.

I get 25mpg highway with my Dell and its a heck of lot more fun than this small weber will be.
In the mountains I only get about 12 mpg, YMMV, but the fun quotient is off the charts.

ive found with the nikki, the idle mixture has a bigger impact on mpg than i think it should. if you set the idle mixture to optimal, vs optimal + half turn richer, it can be like 1-2 mpg

Thats true for a lot of carbs. Most carbs cruise mostly on the idle circuit and that influences mpg
quite a bit. Dells like that as well. If I make the idle richer it sucks more gas even at highway
cruising speed.

Fuel economy is performance. All performance is, is extracting the most energy out of a given amount of air and fuel. Just dumping more air and fuel in is 60s-think, if you want that then maybe you should switch to 426 Hemis which were excellent at moving air and fuel through the engine but not very efficient at burning it.

Need I remind that the pinnacle of Mazda racing was done at a race where fuel economy was the most important thing?

+1 i like the Hemi, but if you take the quarter mile times of the cars they were put in new, its really only making like 300hp, which is about 50/liter, which sucks. its airplane engine territory.

the 426 Hemi SAE paper is a good read though

Just use some random bits and pieces to make one. Dont give up now. I'm sure you can bend and drill some pieces of metal and come up with something.
