AZ 255 walbro w/ 12a filter???

As in the title will it work (i.e. will the filter flow enough fuel to keep the pump safe and deliver a sufficient amount of fuel to a DHLA dellorto) or should i upgrade to the SE filter and filter fittings?

The DHLA will only need ~2.5 psi of pressure and about 40-50 gph of flow. That walbro is
meant for a fuel injection setup and you would have to put in place a return regulator to
get the carb inlet pressure down to spec.

And no the stock filter will probably not work with the walbro. The walbro is overkill for the
carb so its a mute issue.

right. I understand that the walbro is over kill. I have an aeromotive 13301 regulator and fuel pressure gauge. the carb is temperary. i just want to know if the 12a fuel filter will provide enough flow to protect the fuel pump or should i go with the 13b stuff. Thanks

I wouldn't risk it. You need to convert the system to FI rated components. That includes rubber fuel lines, filters and band clamps. I would also up size the hard line to 5/16-3/8" or the pump may not last long.

okay, thanks. Maybe i should say what I have done already instead of assuming everyone knows. I have done a complete tare down and rebuild on the car. I have upgraded the fuels that i got from an SE donor car. I wouldn't even be asking the question if I wasn't stupid and left the SE fuel filter on the car. Now without having the stock banjo bolts for the filter, and mazda wants about $45 just for the bolts and the hard lines are near impossible to find. Anyway, it seems to be that he thought is, " I wouldn't risk it." Right? Thanks for the info.

Find the banjo bolts somewhere else. If someone could provide the specs, Russels, Aeromotive or one of those suppliers should have them available.

its probably easier to run something like an FC fuel filter, its just got hose barbs, so you get to skip the finding weird fittings step

the 12A filter is fine, but its meant for low pressures, any plastic body filter is.

Cool, thanks. I saw an FC filter and was wondering if that would work. and for the 12a fuel filter, is it not worth trying to find out if it will hold up to the inHg the fuel pump will place on it?

Yeah, the fittings for those banjo bolts are some crazy aeronautic or british thread pitch.

But if the FC filter is just as good as the SE filter than I'll go that route.

The 12A filter will probably just collapse internally and reduce the flow
significantly when it does.

Depends on whether you like be randomly stranded on your drives
