1st gen performance

I have a 85 se 12a motor. i would like to know where to get some bolt on horsepower turbos, carbs, exhaust. i seem to be having a hard time finding performance parts on line. i would like to make it a real screemer short of a total engine rebuild . but if that is what i have to do then i will. any help would be appreciated. thanks

Carburetor
Manifold
Fuel Pump
Fuel pressure regulator
Header
complete exhaust

all this can be complete for as little as 1000$ or as much as 2000$, depending on where and what you want to do.

check out www.mazdatrix.com or www.racingbeat.com

You could also streetport it.

Welcome to the forum.

In the FAQ section of this section you can find answers to that question.
I believe question 8 and 9 have links that will give you some insight into this.

It involves tearing down the engine to perform.

I recommend that you spend some time viewing the 2 mentioned questions with their links in the FAQ section.

We all gotta start somewhere. Fastest way to get ahead of the game is to read up on the rotary motor. Tear one down, port it, rebuild it, drop it back in and fire her up. Then do it all over again, before you know it you'll be years ahead of many.

one of the first and best mods to make is the exhaust. Get the Racing Beat system (header, presilencer, and muffler) and it'll let your engine 'breathe' better while still giving you a nice mellow exhaust note instead of a "Hey officer! Lookit me!" brap.

I gotta say when I had my 83 gs I found a header&presilence at the wrecker and bolted it on. At the time that made a huge difference, especially for the price ...$40. Check the first gen classified section frequently, good deals do come up. PM trochoid to see what he has kicking around.
