13brew swap w fd front cover and ecu

Hello,

I have a 1st gen, swapped an rew into the car by fabricating my own mounts onto the fd front cover and utilitizing the fb clutch/flywheel/trans.

However, I'm am stumped as to the most effective way to finish wiring up the car.

What/where can I look to wire up the body harness into the fd ecu?

Do most guys use the fd ignitor? Will the fb trans, clutch switch, neutral switch etc wire into the fd ecu?

It is best to buy an fd body harness and splice the connectors into the fb body?

Thankyou!!!

the FB ignitors won't work at all, so FD one is probably easiest.

the FB trans neutral switch will work with the FD ecu, but it doesn't have the 1-2nd gear switch, so you're on your own there. the FB clutch switch will work, if you have one.

Thanks j9!

Do you recommend sourcing connectors and just making wires to the ecu from the ignitor and all the other body harness switches?

"doogy2" responded to my build thread that microtech may be easy to wire up (not familiar myself). i'll be using pfc for my build but have yet to tackle it. stock FD ecu would seem to be very complex as you have to wire up all the necessary sensors, switches, etc, thus me wanting to use pfc so i can eliminate a bunch of this stuff.

i put a stock FD ecu into an S5, and even though an S5 and FD are similar in wiring schemes, its still been a LONG project. nothing super hard, but there is just a TON of stuff that gets hooked up, if you go to something like a power FC, the emissions/turbo control stuff can be eliminated, and it doesn't care.

all the known manuals in the Mazda universe are here Foxed.ca - Mazda RX-7 Manuals

Got the fb running with the rew and driveable!

Wired up my own harness to the ecu to take over all the rest of the sensors etc such as ignitor, map sensor, coils etc.

However, car idles for a 10 seconds smoothly 19mm vacuum then stumbles HORRIBLY for 2 seconds backfires then back tk smooth. Cycle repeats over and over. Smooth.......stumble....smooth.

I do NOT have a clutch switch, neutral switch nor 1 and 2 gear switch wired up. Could this be the issue?

since your dealing w/ the stock ECU, it may be best to ask this question on the 3rd gen forum.

Yeah, I did an 87 TII ECU into a carburetor powered 84 GS. It was much harder than putting an ECU into a GSL-SE car because there's already a ECU in those.

Personally I'd run a PFC for the cheaper side, Haltech or Adaptronic personally in my next REW powered FB.

I really should post up my huge Excel spreadsheet that details wiring an ECU into both a 12a harness and GSL-SE harness soon shouldn't I?
