13B 4 port?

Ok so there is a site selling 13b 4 port motors rebuilt for $1850

Is there much to gain with a 13b 4 port?

Depends on the supporting mods and porting. The stock SE puts out 135. I don't recall what the 74-78 4-ports put out, but you can olny go up from there.

Old 13b four ports (rx4/rx5) motors put out 100kw or 134hp. If you port them you'll be able to make quite a lot of power. Just an extend port can reach over 220hp

My mild 13B 4 port BP was fantastic Jay, I loved it, about 250 flywheel HP and it was fast, of course the Rx3 was a race car, I won two state titles in that car with that engine, raced it for 5 years without a rebuild.

Good streetported 13b with supporting mod like carb, exhaust etc. makes 225 hp. I chocked up many street kills with that set up.

4-ports should make more NA than what NA 6-ports would simply because you can port the intake so much more without as many worries. I would love to get my hands on a 4-port 13b and port the hell out of it. Isn't that why it is so hard to break the 200 horsepower mark with a 6-port 13b without going p-port, but a bridge for a 12a can hit 225 or so?

4 port bridgies were making 290-300 hp flywheel 10 years ago in Australia.

do those 4 port 13b motors have the 2mm or 3mm seals? Old 13b's had 3mm apex seals wich is what made them seem to last forever!

what places sell 13b 4 port motors. ive been thinking about doing this, and finding a old 13b seems like a better idea than trying to get ahold of a t2 13b for a decent price.

Just find a GSL SE 13b and use 12a irons. You'll get a 3mm seal high compressions 4 port engine without the exhaust sleeve inserts. A lot of the old 4 port 13b's had tiny exhaust ports.

What would be the tranny used in this setup?

Stock GSL-SE or FC?

stock tranny is fine, stock can handle the torque.

if u wanna upgrade to semi-close ratios do a miata or 626 RWD tranny. it's been written up here before, search.
