Talking 12a in a Corolla trunk!

I didn't have a truck so I put the 12a in my moms corolla and drove up to Rotaryshack to exchange it for a working engine. It actually drove pretty good the whole way. Except for when I hit the brakes kind of hardand the engine slid and hit the backseat. here some pics:

Wimp!

You put a clean engine, on cardboard in your mom's car. Where's the fun in that?

I'll 'one-up' you with a dirty tranny in a clean Chevette (nearly new at the time). Left a mess in there but it all came out with carpet cleaner. I had to clean it because the car was mine...

Anyone else can one-up mine if they used someone else's car!

I used a cherry picker to put it in. When I showed up there, Robert, Pat(my brother), and I lifted it out. Blankets were on the bumper to prevent scraping it. Then we lifted the new one the same way and put it in.
I'll post some pics of the installed engine which is btw a stockport in a couple hours. It sure is nice not having to ride my bike to school

With the wheels attached?

That would be fun to have rolling around back there in traffic!

My 12a pp short block rode from my buddy's house to mine sitting in my preludes passenger seat. It wasn't easy loading and unloading but I've done worse. Just had to muscle up and strain a little.

What about the time I put a new engine on a pallet in a guy's truck and scratched the bed with the pallet. He flipped out and said he was gonna sue me. I threatened to kick his *** for stupidity and that I told him what I was doing. Argument stopped there.

Back on topic, I have a 91 Geo Prizm, so that would be like me putting a 12A in there. Same car besides emblems....oh, and ECU. Ask me how I know.

I put a 13B longblock in the trunk of my Miata and drove for ~45 minutes. Ran pretty damn good, stopped a little better, too.

I'll try to find pictures of last winter when I went to Toronto to pick up the 12a in my DAD's sunfire. The owner of the engine forgot to mention that it still had a full pan of dirty oil and when we flipped it on it's side to put it in, dirty oil went EVERYWHERE!. The spare tire well of the sunfire had dirty oil in it and it took me hours to get it all presentable before my dad got home.

fun though.

if you scoot the passenger seet forward, you can fit a full size engine hoist in a 79 RX7. I've done it... twice.
