Im sure it would be ok to run just water during warmer months....but colder months i would always run a 50/50 coolant. My last car i owned (zx2) i used water the warm months and then i would flush it and run 50/50 and it worked fine....and ran damn good.

I also recommend water wetter....havent got to try it on the rotary or anything though since its been down for a little bit. Here in the next few months though i should be able to have the cooling setup i want....fluidyne honda half-size rad, biggest e-fan i can fit on it...probably going to do a 80/20 mix of antifreeze and water to see how it runs like that. If it does fine then this summer i will probably flush it and run mostly water with some water wetter. Also i have always been told to use distilled water...not tap water.

Also sorry teddy for hijack...but it does have a little something to do with your project...considering we are talking about radiators and coolant mixes.

so teddy dropped the car off last night. it slept in the shop with all the motors and the dogs last night untouched.

i got to the shop at 10 am and after a trip to home depot and a couple other places to get supplies i started on the lexan mission of death.

my back hurts. i ended up bleeding all over the floor (yeah i know the day isnt complete till your bleeding) and i was there working for 9+ hours straight. oh and for the record when cutting lexan its a good idea to watch out for flying chunks of burning lexan shrapnel. that **** HURTS!!!!

so i was given.................... a car with all windows/glass in it. a sheet of 4'x8' lexan glass and 2 "precut ready to install rear quarter windows" (if thats what you can call them.....what a ******* joke that was/is).

so anyhow, we got to work removing all glass from the car. then measuring and making templates. that was fun oh wait ........no. then i had to remove all the urethane from the window sills.

btw teddy whoever installed your windshield should never be allowed around a car ever again. they did a horrid job. i guess it just made it easier for me but none the less.....

with all the templates made it was time to mark out on the lexan sheet the pieces.....oops not enough lexan for everything so......only the windshield, hatch and quarters are happening this weekend. the sunroof and door windows will have to wait for another time. great.......just what i always wanted....more of lexan hell.....ugh. then time to cut....remember the burning shrapnel yeah that sucks. anyhow after a very long day i had the windshield completely in and the driver side quarter recut. tomorrow i have the rear hatch and passenger side quarter ahead of me.

i took some pics with my phone they arent great but give the idea. ill bring my camera tomorrow to take real pics. but anyhow.....

oh and teddy your making out GREAT on this deal. lol

He lives in san diego, he can run straight water on the coldest day of the year and not worry about freezing. FYI there is no such thing as "coolant" Anti-freeze is exactly that, "anti freeze." It is not a coolant... Water is the coolant. Anti freeze lowers waters boiing point and makes it too viscus there fore making it cool less... The only benifits to antifreeze is that it doesn't freeze, it lubes the water pump and extends it's life, and it keeps the rusting inside the engine down. The only negitive to running water alone is that if it gets below 32* F and it freesez it can crack your bock, and it has to be changed a lot to cut down on rusting. I went from 80%water 20% antifreeze to 100% water and my coolant temps went down from 200* after a hard run to 185*. Water wetter breakes the surface tention of th water allowing it to cool the engine better and it has lubricating properties to lube the water pump, and it cuts down on rust in your system. I flush a water only system once a month, water+water wetter system 4 times a year, and anti freeze+water once a year.

P.S. If any of you's guys planning on racing on a NHRA sanctioned track it's against NHRA rules to even have 1 teaspoon of antifreeze in your system... Water Wetter FTMFW! And any idiot knows you're not supposed to use tap water in ANY car!!! Not just a rotary... Always use distilled water in your radiator....
