On the red GSL-SE I bled the brakes. Also started stripping the paint off the battery support. At some point the nylon battery tray got split and someone had a spill. There is a small hole and an edge that is rusted through in a spot. What I have decided to do is fiberglass the top and fill the rusted through spots on the bottom and then paint it gloss black again. I already got a replacement tray. The paint underneath that seems to be ok so probably just this part needs attention. Ill take photos of the process.

The sad thing is the battery support from the EV GSL was in perfect condition and I threw it away a few months before I bought this car. I remember thinking that I will never use that and nobody would want it. Stupid.

Also found that Krylon has a chrome finish paint that should look really good on the Rx-7 Rotary side badges. The ones on the EV don't need anything but the ones on the GSL-SE are not so lucky. I am guessing car wash damage.

Disassembled the S4 alt I bought recently, re-painted the exterior of the stator, and started work on the make-shiny for the end housings.

Needed to get some primer so I could move the air cleaner project along, but being Easter, the auto parts stores were closed. Oddly.

I started ordering parts for my carburetor.
Got my Jegs air bleeds and I order button head screws. Later this week I'm going to do a DIY soda blaster. I have no idea how it will turn out.

yah forgot all about the easter thing. honestly I half expected easter sales 30% off or something. neways

Had big intentions of building a sub box this past week but the weather was so nice, I had to wash her up, make sure all the new weatherstripping was holding, and take her for a cruise.

Saw this classic Southern Pacific streamliner diesel electric so had to duck in and grab a shot.

Found a gorgeous S5 vert - Had to snap a pic

btw i used Armorall Wheel and Tire cleaner spray to clean the wheels and tires. works amazing. unreal. definitely wear gloves and goggles tho its potent juice.

Test fitted it for expedition status while I stripped the inside of my Rav4 to build a sleeper setup.

Love those rims! That roof case is huge - practically doubles the size of the car! Personally, I'm a fan of the retro roof rack with suitcases strapped down. Won't do much for ya in the rain, tho...

Worked on my battery tray for the GSL-SE. Again forgot to do a before picture. So here are the picts after cleaning off the bulk of the paint, rusty crud and then after applying the layer of fiber glass. You can see the holes in the closeup. The yellow cast on the one is a reflection off of some yellow on my T-shirt.

Got my thinwalled plug socket from Atkin's so I could swap in some new plugs on my running project

This weekend I managed to finally put a new gasket on my Block>Turbo so it's not loud as hell anymore. Intake gasket comes tomorrow.

Che's - cheers man! i dig those wheels you got there on both. nice stance too. after i get the basics dialed in I'll be focusing on the fun stuff. i'm thinking coilovers all around - what setups are you running?

Major "advancements" today - of the vacuum sort.

I've been studying up on the Factory Training Manual on how to properly configure the vacumn advance system on the 'SE distributor. It turns out the factory system uses manifold pressure regulated via check valve, which actuates under certain conditions as received by various sensors. Throttle position, coolant temp, and the underlying manifold pressure behind it all.

Then i got curious about how streetable carb setups run with vacuum advance. After quite a long read through lengthy debates about manifold vs. ported pressure, the conclusion was to hook it up to what you've got and see what it does. Any better? good. worse? try the other one.

As i'm still growing accustomed to this Dellorto 48, i've only hooked the advance up to the manifold pressure, and so far so good! The exhaust tone is sounding much better and the lower rpm range is infinitely more drivable.

I may not need a new muffler after all - the setup may just be that out of whack. I know she's way rich right now - she was tuned for sea level, and I'm at 2500-4500 ft in my area. Re-jetting with my buddy and a wideband should do us right.

Alaska, but with my Rav4.

The roof rack is the stock rack from my Rav4. I just had to take it off so I could pull my Rav4 into my garage to do some work in the rain. So I decided to set the rack on top of the SA to see how it looked. Eventually the SA will get a rack though.

Trimmed the glass to get ready for paint. It needs another layer of resin to seal the surface. The whiter areas are where the glass is not in contact with the metal. Since this is not structural and can't be seen because of paint, a nylon battery tray and a battery I am not too worried about it. I didn't do the resin because I ran out of gloves.

The oil cooler showed up so I will see if I have time to install it this evening.

The night before, I spent an hour and a half scrubbing the lower intake manifold for the 13B that will eventually be going into my FB. Spent most of the time working on the gasket surfaces. Still have a lot of work to do to get that stubborn gasket off.

Last night I managed to get the remote trunk release retrofit done. Not without breaking a couple of mounting points on the lower dash panel though. Got it all back together and surprisingly, there are no more rattles than before.

Got home from work and applied another coat of epoxy to the battery support for the GSL-SE. While that was curing I installed the new oil cooler and added some oil. I am guessing that even though the dipstick shows full that once it starts flowing and fills the cooler and the lines I will have to add at least another quart. Unfortunately I can't run it because the battery is not in the car. I am guessing I can get to that point on Thursday or Friday at the latest.

Sanding S4 alternator is hard. So... many... nooks and... crannies. It's like trying to plane down an english muffin.
