I have also heard people here on the forum having this problem and some suspect that it may be from heatsoak after engine shutdown, causing the carb bowls to overflow.

Monitor your oil level / smell closely. If it adds gasoling more quickly than it burns oil the level can actually rise. If the level doesnt go down then it is adding gas at about the same rate as the omp is taking oil out. If everything is working right, the level should drop.
Thanks for the reply but it is an SE (13B Fuel Injection) so can't be carb related. Could too rich a mixture from the fuel injectors do this? What could cause this?

I will keep an eye on it because as we all should know the two great sins you can commit to your rotary are letting something happen to the lubrication system and letting something happen to the cooling system.

got my new radio in, as well as my new front speakers. just waiting on the rears to come in. however i'm having an intermittent issue where my radio shuts off for a few seconds for no reason. i'm putting it down to either the previous owner's shoddy wiring (mostly done with masking tape) or my weak alternator. so, next task i think is to rig up an S5 alternator. i don't call it the money pit for nothing...

I'm not an extraordinarily-experienced FI guy (none of my FI cars have ever developed FI problems), but it would make sense that leaky injectors could cause fuel line pressure to bleed down into the chambers after shutdown, resulting in both flooding and excessive fuel ending up in the crankcase as "blow by".

Probably wouldn't hurt to run some fuel injector cleaner through her.

Didnt realize it was an SE,

In that case it would almost have to be leaky injectors. I am a carb guy, so no expertise with FI.

Does it ever act flooded when you start it up?

Mazdatrix has the most complete rebuild kit by far, it even includes the big rubber e-brake boots, but they tend to be expensive, sometimes to the extreme.

I opted for one of ones offered on RockAuto. They offer kits from several manufacturers and They have pics so you can see exactly what is included. This can be important because alot of the kits do not include the o-ring for the E-brake actuating rod. I got the one from Raybestus cause I could see that the o ring was included and I didnt need the boots that the Mazdatrix kit has ,and the kit was much more affordable.

NY Ordered a cup holder on EBAY

330811575652

Universal Car Single/Double Din Radio Pocket Kit w/Drink-Cup Holder +Storage Box

I ordered this to take the place of the old EQ that is dead and taking up precious real estate in the dash. Not sure how the cupholder will work shifting gears but we will see. For $20.00 it could end up being a good investment or a bust.

That looks interesting, similar to the Ford Taurus ones that some 4th gen Celica guys were doing in the pocket space. Should be ok just no big gulps. I used that spot for guages though but, I like this makes me rethink me dash a bit possibly.

Flooded it again. Came back in the afternoon and un-flooded it with a little oil in the carb. Went to the radiator repair place to have the A/C refrigerant safely removed. There was nothing in there but air. A/C is coming off this weekend.

Also went to Pick n Pull and found a widebody FB with a fresh looking interior and some Bilstein shocks. It was late, so I had to leave it. Going back tomorrow with a full complement of tools.

She's coming down off the skates tonight, to start prep for this lil mini-meet Saturday at a local Mazda dealer who's found shiny old cars make good advertising.

drove into work today, and two things dawned on me

need to find out why i'm running like **** again, maybe it's time to do one of the DFIS upgrades.

also need to play with my stereo wiring for two reasons: 1. my head unit cuts out randomly for a few seconds then comes back on. power supply issue or wiring issue possible. 2. i am getting zero sound from my left speakers, front and back.

also thinking of spending some of my tax return to have my seats reupholstered and get a dash cap from black dragon.

Went back to Pick-n-Pull and got a replacement storage box, charcoal cannister, rear hatch trim piece, a Pacific whale tail spoiler, and a pair of Bilstein FB rear shocks. Went home with a big, fat grin on my face.

BTW, the car at the yard was a BAE/Pacific Turbo widebody RX-7. Unfortunately, the turbo motor had apparently been swapped out for a stock 12A as there was no sign of turboage except for the bung installed on the top of the air cleaner lid.

If i had the money, I'd give her a new home. Looks like a good starting point, maybe, how much of herbwad there? Ah, now I'm just dreaming but, that is a cool pick'n'pull find.

CA Details on BAE/Pacific widebody turbo

I know...it's sad to see it in this state.

The car is remarkably straight. The fiberglass would need sorting out, but if you're good with body work, it certainly can be restored. The interior wasn't too bad either. The seats had a few tears. The dash and carpet looked good. Panels were in decent shape, not perfect though. GSL base, so rear disks (4x110 bolt pattern) and LSD. The driver's side lower rocker molding is missing, but everything else is there. The engine is a stock 12A...no turbo kit.

Probably could get it for a couple of hundred. If anyone is interested in trying to save this thing, it's at the Pick N Pull in Moss Landing, CA. It's tempting for me, but I'd be sleeping on the couch for...uh...ever.

Good to hear. Big shops like that are MONEY based. My shop'll turn down average joe for a juicy Wal-fart contract. Way of the world I guess.

It is a small privately owned shop.
He does big orders from custom garages and such; custom bikes, cars, trucks, and much more.

Went to a little(very small) car meet the other weekend. Saw a pic of my car from it.
Car was dirty/dusty from sitting in my garage for three weeks not driving it. A friend wanted me to follow him there and he invited me the night before, so I didn't have time to wash it up!

Augh! Save the body kit if you can't get the whole car! I'm thinking I may have to use something like that when I upgrade to the FC front subframe due to the wider track, but I'm in TX...

Nice. How much did the polish-powder coat cost again? I've got some 626 Turbo wheels that would work well in a similar color combo. I've painted three of them with wheel paint so far - cheap enough, but how long will it last?

Contact the seller. If they didn't require a signature, they are liable for replacing them. Went round and round with X10.com on that one on some security cameras. They sent $300 worth of security gear to somewhere that obviously NEEDED more security, and didn't require a signature. That also means they had no proof of delivery beyond the driver's word, who for all I know kept them, so I could dispute the sale, as I never got them, and they can't prove that I did. After a "trace" and "investigation", they finally sent me a new pair, of cameras, signature required.
Hopefully, your seller is reasonably intelligent and will ship you a replacement set, and file a claim with FedEx (they can, as the shipper, you can't.)
