What did you do to your FB today?
Man I like the way that thing looks.
What did I do to mine today? Well, I finally finished building shelves in the garage (been working on and off on those the last two weeks) so I can get a bunch of stuff that didn't fit in the new shed out of the floor, thereby making room for projects like replacing the blown engine in the '79. Also, in the process, moved around the S5 13B that I hope I can free up and use in the FrankenRex.

The Borla tipped RB long primary exhaust is now a reality. Noticeably louder, bit not quite obnoxiously so. That is, until the secondaries open! And a deeper rumble off throttle. I'll need a road trip to really decide, but as of now, it's pretty sweet. My 5 Year old approves. He was laughing hysterically.
bought stuff to get ready and finish my tune up on my nice little FB. just waiting on hoses to come on in and everything should be perfect.
Still need Bushings and Shocks
and she will be highway ready!~

He hasn't listed any in awhile, but you might want to contact him and see if he is planning on selling any more. I suspect, given his location, he's having them made in Mexico and shipping them from San Diego. It took about 3 weeks from when I ordered them. Would have liked them a little sooner, but they arrived and were exactly what I needed.
One thing to think about though...these fit perfectly over my body kit with some minor notching of the flares. Without the body kit (side skirts), they may need a little more work to fit the contour of the body. But I suspect fussing with them will be minimal, especially when compared with ZG flares.

Today I dry-iced the backs of my door panels and chipped off the gooey stuff left over from the dynamat stuff that the PO used to recover the door panels. They're clean enough now that I can work with the panels without getting goo all over my fingers. Tomorrow I'll start the recovering process.
Yesterday I paid for a set of used Hoosiers to put on the SSR MkIIIs...they should arrive sometime next week.

took the OG leather seats out of the FB, cleaned the carpets and wired in relays for the power windows. much faster! also, wired in a fused circuit missing since I've had the car - the damned alternator to battery wire! 14.7 @ alt was only getting 12.6-7 @ battery. coils barely seeing over 12v. so much of a drop at the factory wh/red wire that it was only 14.1 when it disappeared into the harness bundle by the shock tower. installed new lift struts for the rear glass. wiper and squirter still not functional, gotta trace it back.
in my struggles of fighting a bad TFIDLIS with clandestine parts, went back to fresh stock parts and it's happy now. still wont pull worth a damn past 4k rpm. don't think the timing is advancing, as crimping off the line, disconnecting it, or leaving the open line free, does anything to idle quality, rpm. can't figure it out. didn't add a gasket to base when rebuilding and stripping the carb, but no serious vacuum leaks noticed. just falls on its face at 4k. great bottom end despite a pacesetter and free flowing 2 1/4" exhaust. will diagnose dizzy parts with a vacuum pump/gauge to see if the diaphragms are blown. just another day in the life of an FB owner!

A timing light would really help you sort out your advance issues. Don't forget that these dizzies have both vacuum and centrifugal advance. The centrifugal mechanism is under the pickup plate, and they can get gummed/rusted up from age and exposure.
timing was right on the marks before, but will check again. seems to have a "rubber band" effect holding the engine back. too many mods at once! I can feel the mechanical secondaries open up, but it loses steam past 4k rpms.
Looks like I've blown my oil seals. She smokes and drinks. Like 4qts a week!
Not sure what caused this, but my suspicion is an accidental redline soon after I got her running on the Megasquirt.
Time to pull the motor and have it rebuilt. Nothing is coming easy on this project!!

the mechanical advance in the distributor is different from the mechanical secondaries in the carb
Bought and installed a new power valve, the old second hand one wasn't working right. New made the last hiccups disappear. Smooth all the way up and down, coming down and pops fire ***** (coming down).
Just returned from a quick 170 mile round trip to Hampton for a car meet. 2 fb's, 3 fc's, a half dozen fd's, a t2 miata and a couple rx8's.
A pleasure for me, I'm the only rotary I ever see around here.

Just finished recovering the door panels for my FB. It's a two-toned maroon/black. I freshened up the faded to brownish-beige armrests and handles. Looks a lot better. Should look even better when they're on the car and all the trim pieces are on.

I bought them off eBay from a user in So Cal named "ontheroad_93". Here's one of his completed auctions.

That was probably the biggest productivity booster I'd done...building shelves and getting stuff out of the way so I can actually do work.

I couldn't help it, it's the first thing that came to mind, given your recent Fb travails. Video Link: http://youtu.be/Y9aKZZJvB0E

It's not all bad... After all is said and done The block will have a nice fresh paint job, non leaking OMP, non cracked water pump housing, rear-end dent removed, and maybe even a bit more porting

I realized that I haven't posted any pics since the wire tuck and MS3x install, will get those up as soon as I get her back. Lots of updates to catalogue, months worth of work
