Tire selection

So I see a lot of talk with after market wheels but let's talk stock alloys. I have an all original 82 gsl so I decided I want to rock the stock rims but I want some performance tires and I've been searching and I was gonna buy 185 60 13s but I found a good deal on toyo r1a tires but their 205 60 13 you guys think they'll fit okay on stock rims being they are fairly wider. Let me know what you think thanks guys.

You'll need to run a little lower pressures for even tire wear, OR higher pressures to keep them from rolling over a lot, depending on driving habits. If you spend 90% of your time like a motorcyclist who wears the center of the tire, less pressure. 90% of the time like a motorcyclist who wears the sides first, more pressure.

I used to run 24psi front/20psi rear with 205/60 tires, to get even tire wear. It also made the handling very progressive.

185/60 are not a good size for the RX-7. Those are better for smaller cars like Bugeyes. Or Minis. The Issigonis ones, not the Chrysler/Mercedes/BMW ones.

that is very helpfull thank you I basically only drive on the street but I do drive like a total maniac 🤣 I definitely wear tires out. I was just worried they'd bubble a lot being that much wider.

awesome thank thats exactly what I wanted to hear. Important question does a stock one still drift with those or is it to much traction to over come cause you know you gotta have some fun.

LOL - not a Drift King™ by any stretch (driver) so she is still happy to plow (understeer) unless I give the handbrake a yank. Predictable stuff, no snap O-steer drama in my humble outings. Stock suspension, original rubbers in 105K arms, etc. Newer Bilsteins in the rear.
Your mileage may vary...

Has anybody been able to find 13 inch Federal 595s for sale anywhere lately? They used to be all over eBay for a good price, but it appears that Federal has stopped making them to fit 13 inch wheels.

I bought my set for $149.00 (pair) last year in April and I saw them for a couple of months after that.....then they disappeared 🤷‍♂️....

You can get the Vitours in 235/50/13....

They were not available when I was looking for a wide 13 inch tire.... I'm thinking about buying 4 of them and save them for later ...I love the factory 13s on my FB...

Yeah, I bought a set for one of my cars in 2019 for about $280 for a full set of four. I'm trying to find a set for my other car and they are no longer in stock anywhere. I really liked the 595's too. Choices for 13" tires are really limited right now.
