Wink SA - eyes-only: Wee (!) Bit of NOS Unobtainia

OK - so SPECIFICALLY 19_80_ SA owners...

Dooky little PITA-if-it-breaks piece that helps "make" the interior. Long discontinued.
Guesses?? (no cheating and checking your Parts PDFs!)

Found on ebay for $5. So you just never know what's going to show up...
(and makes you wonder about the Bucket Loads of odd NOS bits STILL kicking around folks garages that has yet to be unearthed!)

We all rant (rightly) about scoring some BIG pieces, but all the wee bits can add up too!

Stu, is that one of the top finishing trim pieces for the interior door pull?

I'm glad I replaced both of mine back when they were still available; they tend to crack over the years, and the plastic is one of the harder types to repair.

Nice score, indeed. Some places like Black Dragon don't even admit to the 80-specific trim pieces having existed.

NOS= New Old Stock. New parts that are no longer available. Usually found in old warehouses and whatnot.

That's shiney Stu! Worth its weight in gold. The one piece of broken plastic on my favorite RX-7 and you score it on ebay for $5. Wow!

If there was an Ebay Hunter medal you'd win the Gold for your persistent winning searches and bids for unobtanium parts and brochures.

Congrats dude! That's awesome!

So guys - the background to this is the sad (?) fact we all are a-buzz over a humble piece of door trim?
;/
Yoiks my friends! I guess its obvious there just isn't a lot of NEW stuff we can trot into the Parts Dept. and order any more, eh?

I suppose it is the path our Elders have marched, looking for the Holy Grail for their now-vintage porsches, C3 Corvettes, and what-have-you.

Mayhaps we have reached the bridge that crosses to the land of Car Collectors, leaving behind the mere Car Owners....

Oh man. Now I am _philosophizing_ about door trim! Well, at least I seem to be in most excellent company...

lol! i think you're right, but i know mercedes and porsche will actually just make a run of "rare" parts, once in a while.

and in mercedes case, basically you can go to the dealer and order anything you need, 99% of parts are available.

need to have the engine rebuilt in the 1939 w154 gp car? no problem, just send the core to the factory, and they will rebuild it.

need bosch plugs for said car? no problem. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNMMk...layer_embedded
