I just did an oil change last night on my GSL-SE and when I took the oil fill cap of I noticed frothy oil on the cap. I filled it back up with Valvoline conventional 10w-40 5 quarts and after driving it a few miles I opened the cap to find even more frothy oil on the cap. Did I overfill it? I also have the Racing Beat baffle plate. Would putting it in prevent this from happening?
i believe this is a sign that the crank case ventilation system isn't working property. download a copy of the fsm from here: Foxed.ca - Mazda RX-7 Manuals. this should tell u what all u need to check. there's also other threads here on this subject, just search the term, 'lung butter'. what kind of mods have been done? is everything under the hood still stock?
rxtasy3 is correct, something is routed wrong with your crankcase venting. Assuming your rats nest solenoids are gone - Gas tank vents into charcoal canister, vents into nipple near base of oil tube, vents from oil tube nipple to air cleaner. Easy, clean, and serves the crankcase and gas tank's venting needs. All engines from the 50's to present have some type of crankcase venting, to suck out the blowby fumes and water vapor that causes the slimey foam you are seeing.
The line you're indicating does pull gas vapor from the charcoal canister to the crankcase, but you need something hooked up to pull from the crankcase to the intake. How about some pics of the top of your engine - the rats nest and oil fill tube.
