I got clamped on my rear.
As I dig deeper into my project. I found these attached to my spring. I assume the concept is to change the spring rate by limiting compression. Im like WTF, this is cheap ****.

It's kind of like what Chris Rock says.... I don't agree with it, but I understand.
Whatever metal, or tempering, Mazda made the RX-7 springs with, was really bad. This is why lowering springs would make a car sit HIGHER, in the 1990s when the cars were just used cars.

Its just ... just ... Arggghh! I'm speechless! WTF!
I've heard people suggesting doing this or the opposite to lower the car but really? Some one really did it.
Quick, make sure the mufflers bearings are in good shape too!

A close look at how its installed, looks like previous owner was possibly trying to restore ride height to a collapsed spring? Replaced a fair amount of oe springs under warranty when these cars were only a year old or so for sagging, bottoming, leaning.
They were not the best quality. A lot of customers upgraded to Eibach springs & Koni struts/shocks we sold thru parts dept. at dealership.

For new springs it looks like RacingBeat is the only came in town. Shall I assume that Eibach and Suspension Techniques are discontinued?

RB springs are what i prefer, they are firm, firmer than St springs.

I don't think anyone said that this was a lowering tool in this circumstance. If one was to reverse the brackets, it could be used to compress the spring. This is an atrocity no matter how you look at it.

When I first had my rx-7, I was tempted to do that in order to address the drive shaft hitting the body. So if you remove those spring compressors you might have the same problem. After +10 years , I solved the problem by putting some washers on the rear transmission mount.
The problem got really really worse after an indy shop rebuilt the clutch. He didn't reinstall the trans mount washers.
After 27 years of turning wrench on my rx-7, it was apparent that it was in a wreck, a bad wreck, a very bad wreck, a very bad fiery wreck!!

My RX-8 had those on the rear since they're prone to sagging hardcore in the back end.

Car lowering, car raising, raise the front, raise the rear, curb feelers, rear wing or spoiler, whistler muffler, under sized wheels, over sized wheels, spinning rims......so many ridiculous fads
Did I miss any? Bouncing cars.

In high school I begged my parents to let me buy an old Dodge Barracuda and was denied. "I'll pay, I swear, pleeeease!"
It started with a screwdriver and was raised in the back with "ladder bars" and 2 or 3 of those horrible spring blocks on each side. But these were even shittier AFAIR...they just twisted into the coil and were expected to stay there.
Kids, listen to your parents! :P
