Anyone here used an aux to trigger nitrous?

Got some ideas in my head about using the wolf to trigger the nitrous solenoid, or possibly using it to control a intercooler sprayer once intake temps get too hot.

Anyone dabbled in this?

i havent, however it doesnt sound like it would be hard at all. Wire the outputs though a relay. they have all the options you need for either application, i dont see why it wouldnt work

any idea of the limitations of the current that the outputs can hold? I'd be using the smaller solenoid, so i didn't know if i could run the solenoid directly or would need a relay to protect the ecu.

as a follow up, how can I set it up to add fuel when i trigger the nitrous? It looks like the aux outs are primarily designed around triggering a relay, with no options to modify fuel or ignition based on activation.

I have my inputs free, and wouldn't mind using one, except they are based on 0-5v sensor outputs. any ideas without having to breaking out resistors?

Its easy to do...Use an auxilary input with say a micro switch under the loud pedal, once this switch is activated, you can set it up so it switches over to the program thats on the memory cartridge [providing you have one] and that map can have your retarded timing and extra fuel...You would only need this setup if it was a dry system. We will be using a wet system which will be just wired to an aux output through a relay...& yes you must have a relay.

ok, now if i just simplified this, and did an intercooler sprayer, would you trust the intake temperature sensor to adjust the fuel as needed? Or would you recommend manuall adding fuel as well.

if you do trust it, what do you use for your hand controller setting? I think mine is at -7? Does that sound right?

I would trust the sensor as long as the sensor is after the intercooler. As far as the air temperature compensation goes,i would use a laptop to do finer adjustments...

hmm, well i don't have the memory cartridge. But doesn't it plug in, in the place of the hand controller? If so, I'm not sure if I would want one, considering I'm going to be switchin the aux outs, on and off using the hand controller because I don't want to have nitrous enabled all the time.

I'm thinking about just running a lead off of the relay (that's activating the nitrous) and stepping that voltage down to sub 5v, then using my input to compensate. Does this sound rational?

ok i was mistaken, it plugs into the cpu port. What is a good price for the memory cartridge?

ok i have my setup wired, using aux 1 to ground a relay, which switches a nitrous solenoid on, and also sends power to aux 2 which switches maps to the "nitrous" map, so things are all done instantly.

I setup aux 1 to trigger when the motor is >3500 rpm, >80 deg. celcius, and >105% tps. It kicks back off at 104%tps.

this setup uses both my available auxilaries, so you people who want to run a dry shot of nitrous, intercooler sprayers and all kindsof other stuff will want to get the 4.0plus, but this setup is ideal for me. nitrous map's air temp compensation is going to be more aggressive, adding a % of fuel to compensate for the extra oxygen present, and backing timing back just a tad. might have some dyno numbers before too long.

Talking

I can already feel my head going farther back into my seat already!!!

Great stuff aki11ez. How much gas are you using?? 60...100 Hp One guy I knew who was running a secondry brigde port NA with 100Hp of gas had to chain his motor into the car becuse of broken engine mounts(shock loading). Another would use the gas to spool his TA51 off the line eliminating lag. He then just had traction problems for the whole 1/4 mile.

well i have a to4r and it's not really getting to full boost as quickly as i would like it, so the spray is mainly to spool the turbo. I placed the nozzle spraying just before my intercooler, so hopefully it will bring intake temps as a whole down as well.

I think i have something similiar to a 25 shot in there right now until i get the bugs worked out, then possibly a 40-50 shot. I'm happy with the power the car is making at 15psi, but like i said, this just gives my turbo the motivation it needs
