Ok I finally got my rims and tires. Here are some pics. The spec is a +22 17-9 with 245/45/17 enkie RPF1. You have to roll and pull the fender alittle to make them fit. Other than that it fits like a glove. Enjoy!!

Looks good Rob. I doubt you're going to be able to get the fenders out far enough to tuck them under though. Since they are track only tires and you're suspension is so tight I wouldn't worry about much rubbing. also, if you pull them out that far, your street rims/tires will look funny like stock.

Well, Dynopack #'s are in and the car is fully tuned by a real pro at a race shop for Vipers. I'll post the results soon.

Also- no more fluids leaking. Dodged a bullet there!

Keith and I did some work on the miata this weekend. we needed to extend the wires so the new MAF location will work.

trying to make a long story short, Keith extended the wires and we fired ti up, but the car didnt run right. it would not idle and blew a ton of smoke when we reved it up. fought with it for 3 freakin hours. when we had the car back to the way it was (meaning we removed the extended wires and put everything back to the way it was) we discovered that the new evac setup was the problem. when you tie them in like that it causes the symptoms we were having. what a pain in the butt that was.

once we extended the wires again, we changed the evac hoses to a new system, the car ran like it should.

(by evac, I mean the hoses that come out of the valve cover and go to the intake,)

anyways, we also removed a little weight from the car. in total we removed 8.5 pounds in which 3.6 of it was unsprung weight. so thats pretty cool. free mods.

did a compression test, 1-2-3 pulled 155. 4 pulled 150.

Damon, sooooo whats the details on the dyno?

Drum Roll Please. And a sigh of disapointment to boot. I was hoping for better but this is the hand I'm dealt. Car is current;y tuned to its best. Dang Fuel cut is killing me. Any time I increase the boost a little I get fuel cut. Oh well. At least I know what needs to be done to make more power reliably. It just costs money. Max hp=196, max torque=243. AFR's bout as lean as I should go.

. . . ..

MAF or AFM?
I have seen many people having problems when the AFM is relocated, especially if it is not sitting at its factory horizontal axis.

Do you have a pic of its new location?

Thats the perfect amount of horsepower if you ask me! Sorry you didn't get what you wanted, but how much would that fuel cut defender cost? You don't have to go to a standalone, do you?

He has a maf. You can mount the maf anyway you want. If it was a afm than I would say mount it upward.
Thanks Robert

im gonna try to get out there this sunday.. no promises.. but if everyone is racing in the morning, i might be able to get to work ontime still.....

rob.... freakin sweet setup! your gonna be amazed at the difference in grip! should have gotten the gold enkies though.. SEX! also, casey is in possesion of the model... and you still owe me $1.50! hahahahaha...j/k

damon.....sorry you didnt get the #'s you were looking for! i was like 15-20 hp off my mark... i gotta switch out that damn tubular manifold.......everyone is asking.. but whats the cause of the fuel cut? is there a programmed cut in the ecu like the fc? is there some sort of plug-n-play loophole around it?

The AFM can not be mounted sideways or it will really mess with your Air/Fuel ratios. The mazda uses the same afm as the toyotas, I actually have a horizontal mount one if you need it.

Rob- I'm going to run in the same group as you this Sunday and work group one.

As for more power (350whp)I need another big injector and upgrade my primary to a secondary, bigger turbo(18 or 20g)pushing 25-30psi, some good head work and cam,and for fuel mangement I'm going to use the Maft-pro which has all the bells and whistles you'd expect from a good aftermarket fuel management system, including fuel cut block out. The fuel cut is built into the ecu and is based upon air density/volume. Once it hits a certain level, 24psi on stock cars/17.5psi on mine due to lots of huge pipes, turbo, cold air, etc., the ecu poops its pants and shuts things down resulting in a bull ride like bucking session. The only way to eliminate it is to run an aftermarket FMS that can overide or lockout the stock ecu. The safc does not have the abillity to do that. In fact, to get more fuel w/ the safc I have to tell the ecu more air is comming in resulting in an even earlier boost cut. I could proly rig a FCD to trick the ecu but I will still need more fuel and AFR tuning capabillites. So, might as well buy a FMS that does both.
Anyway, I agree with you Jason. The power is fine for me right now while I learn how to drive fast. I will appreciate the extra HP when it is time.
Here's some pics from the meet. My evil twin Blue Bro on the left was in Modified Mag in 2004. made 205 whp at 14lbs, 240 at 18psi.
BTW Rob- the rad. in the gray car is the one I'm picking up Weds.

Everything I have ever read says some people have a problem with mounting the afm like that, and some people dont. the results are pretty much inconclusive as to it being a problem. I figured I would give it a try. I did loosen the spring inside to help with the gravity. when reving it up, it sounds nice and healthy. of course thats not under a load either.

what is different about the one you have? and dont you mean it would be a vertical mount afm?
