if anyone got to drift circuit then im sure you saw the mayhem. sigh 5 crashes all in all. 2 serious and 3 minor. the two serious ones involved an FD. plopped onto of a curb and almost rolled over. second was a devistating one. Megan Racing brought out a 350z and s14. the 350z understeered into a curb and smacked a tree at 60+mph. the passenger was a teenager who chose not to wear the racing harness. he ended up getting hauled away on a stretcher. last i heard he was in shock. i doubt qualcomm is going to allow any more drift events anytime soon. besides that it was a good event
Where did the FD crash? I saw the 350Z crash, pretty nasty. If it was the same guy that had been driving the car for most of the day, I have to wonder if maybe the car was a bit too much for his skill level. Still, the way that course was designed with the starting straight running that close to the wall, crashes were bound to happen. I also saw a 240 spin out and go rear-end up the dirt in front of that wall earlier.
I hope this doesn't kill drifting at the Q completely. I think they need to be a lot more stringent about course design, but they shouldn't let that kill off the event altogether. Hopefully it'll turn out okay in the long run. I know that the autocross course has had a handful of freak accidents, and has had it's future in doubt on a couple occasions, but it's still going strong. I hope it'll be the same for drifting.
