San Diego Karting Challenge and Meeting (April)
San Diego RX Club
Karting Challenge
Date: Saturday, April 7th (regular meeting day)
Time: 12:30 2:30 pm (Arrive by 11:45 am to check in.)
Cut-off date: Tuesday, April 3rd, 6:30 pm (E-mail to John)
Location: K1Speed, 6212 Corte Del Abeto, Carlsbad, CA 92009
Cost: $60 per person
Join us for a special meeting day as we include a Karting Challenge. The meeting and event will be at the K1Speed facilities. We are going with their Group Grand Prix package which should give us a lot of time on the track. The cost is $60 per person, and well worth it. Many racing greats started their careers in karts. Think of it as preparation for an open track day you may have coming up, e.g. MadzaFest 2007. Event details below:
Grand Prix
- $60.00 Per Person
- 12 Lap Practice
- 14 Lap Qualifying
- 16 Lap Final
- (Grid Start)
[TROPHYS INCLUDED]
(A minimum of 8 drivers is required.)
As this is a special event, we needed to make a reservation, held by a credit card, so I did that. The simple rules are:
A minimum of 8 drivers is required. (Start grid can handle a maximum of 12.)
All reservations and payments are due to John Laiche (Me your organizer and Scenic Drive Coordinator; details below.)
Payment is due in full prior to event cut-off, via PayPal account deposit (preferred). Cash also accepted; receipt will be provided.
Cancellations accepted up to April 1st. (Remember the cut-off date!)
No day of event sign-ups accepted unless we have met our minimum. It will be at the discretion of K1Speed on how best to accommodate those. Arrive extra EARLY if you might be doing this.
Arrive at least 45 minutes prior to start time.
PayPal account: whodatrx7@pacbell.net (John Laiche)
This is a Personal Account so I can only take money via PayPal Balance, PayPal Instant Transfer or PayPal eCheck. Any additional fees assessed by PayPal are the responsibility of the person submitting.
Please Use Subject: SD RX Club Karting
Dont forget: Cut-off date: Tuesday, April 3rd, 6:30 pm
If we meet our minimum, but still have more wanting to participate, we can handle them if we know in time. I need to discuss with K1Speed.
Here are pictures from our first karting challenge.

The weekly reminder ...
Three (3) weeks until the challenge and about two (2) weeks before cut-off.
$60 gets you a lot of seat time in the karts at K1Speed.
Make your sign-ups soon!

Sorry about the Saturday, riceburner1r2001. If I could get a commitment from everyone, I could easily set the next one up on Sunday.
Hope you can join us!

Of course it is girl friendly. She can either run with all of us (Which would be great!) or cheer from the sidelines.
I'll see if my SO wants to come.

I am the stig.
Hey John, what time do you think we'll be done with the event? Is the 12:30 to 2:30 the time we have the track?
I've got to come in to work at 5pm, but I'm otherwise good to go.

Tom,
We will be on the track over the 12:30 to 2:30pm time frame. WIll run intermixed with the regular ride & drive events. Remember, we are essentially running three (3) events. We can always choose to run back-to-back, though. You should be out by 3:pm at the absolute latest. DOes that give you enough time?
Also, have you talked anyone else into coming?
Later,
John

I need money down to make this a go, guys!
Tomorrow, Tuesday at 6:30 pm is the drop dead date. Wednesday morning I call it in.
Right now there are three(3) confirmed, with four(4) could-be's.
My credit card is hanging for $600. I'm not looking to have a private party or play the long-shot. I know when to fold 'em.
Gues we'll see what happens.

CANCELLED - Karting
With apologies, I regret that we must cancel the karting event. There was interest two months ago, but obviously not enough.
For those of you that paid, I will process refunds either tomorrow or Thursday.
The regular monthly meeting will still be held at K1Speed for April, so feel free to join us there and participate in one of the Arrive & Drive events that are open to everyone.
Thank you,
John

Well ...
We are still meeting at K1Speed for the regular meeting for April
A few of us will be doing one of the Arrive and Drives, vice the Grand Prix event.
For those of you who were on the fence for this event, you don't know what you were missing. The Arrive & Drive is fun and great for some practice, but is just does NOT compare to a race format. It is an entirely different experience when actually going for a race. I would much rather save up (or stretch) my money and do a race event rather than three(3) different Arrive & Drives. No comparison!!!
Maybe next time.
We'll still be there Saturday, so do NOT go to Fuddruckers.
GO TO K1SPEED IN CARLSBAD FOR THE MEETING.
See ya there,
John
