1) ever seen california's debt? its rediculous so this doesn't surprise me.
2) we cater to people on welfare and illegal aliens which is why our debt is so high but do nothing to really get those people help and bring income to the state.
3) most officers i would bet probably did sign up to do some good but after a short while decided it was easier and safer to just write tickets for simple things rather than go out of their way to take care of the real problems in society.
4) things will not change over a movie, as i said the media is at fault for most of what is going on because some kids streetracing gets more ratings than some drunken harley owner running off the road killing himself in the middle of the night.
5) things will only change if you all commit yourself to changing things, this is not about pollution, this is not about the danger on the streets, this is about the state picking on enthusiasts and trying to show the people of the state that they are doing something about "street racing" while making a buck for themselves.

^^^^^^ so true, so true.......
The cop I play in the band with pulled over a chick not to long ago. I think he said it was tags. Well, upon giving her a ticket she threw a card onher dash. He recognised the name as one of the officers he works with. He ignored it. You know what she was trying to do. She was also illegal. Well, he left it at a ticket. A couple days later the officer whos name was on the card she threw approached him and said, " Hey, stop messing with my people"..... you could imagine the look on my bros face... FKING DISCUSTED! Then he recieved a letter after turning in another ILlegal to the INS saying he can not do so. Came from somewhre up top. Well, he found a law stating he can. But you see the politics involved!

Enforce laws, thats not his job what was he thinking?
I'm sure there are plenty of car guys he can help the state extort money from, he shouldn't be wasting his time with illegals.
I think there needs to be a new job created. Full time law abolisher, it should be someone's job to get rid of all our stupid laws.

More or less, I think cops are just power tripping and just get a kick out of harassing people because they are too chicken **** or too dumb to look for real criminals
Think about it, the last speeding ticket I got was almost $300. Say 1 cop gives 2 speeding tickets a day at $200 a pop. $400 a day $2000 a week $104,000 a year. It would be easy to cover $50,000 a year.

I stand corrected my friend. However the thought makes the situation even more depressing...

cop joke
A Rectum Stretcher
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
While she was "flying" down the road yesterday (10 miles over the limit), a woman passed over a bridge only to find a cop with a radar gun on the other side lying in wait. The cop pulled her over, walked up to the car, and with that classic patronizing smirk we all know and love, asked, "What's your hurry?"
To which she replied, "I'm late for work."
Oh yeah," said the cop, "what do you do?"
I'm a rectum stretcher," she responded.
The cop stammered, "A what? A rectum stretcher? And just what does a rectum stretcher do?"
Well," she said, "I start by inserting one finger, then work my way up to two fingers, then three, then four, then with my whole hand in. I work from side to side until I can get both hands in, and then I slowly but surely stretch, until it's about 6 feet wide."
"And just what the hell do you do with a 6 foot *******?" he asked.
"You give him a badge and radar gun and park him behind a bridge..."

Gang, you need to remember that Fu is not the problem .... he's just an enforcer (no offense meant by using the word "just", Fu). His group can exercise some judgement and free will, but the latitude they have is limited.
Here is your problem - Feinstein, Pelosi, Spier, Boxer, and the 9 member CARB panel these dim-wit politicians helped create. Since we (car enthusiasts) are in the minority compared to the folks who want to elect representatives to "protect them" from the world, it's going to be a hard climb out of this hole. You can try to change the system via the rules, you can revolt (we did it once, and also had a civil war over State's rights), or you can go along. I am choosing to go along since at least I get to race on the track (and can afford it).
Stop picking on the police and start picking on your legislators.

Roseville Police conducting special nighttime traffic enforcement
Drunken drivers and aspiring street racers will have an extra reason to look over their shoulders in Roseville this weekend--nine extra reasons, in fact. That's because nine of the Roseville Police Department traffic officers who normally work during the day will be patrolling during the evening hours, from Thursday, June 22 through Sunday, June 25. The traffic officers will be on the lookout for drunken drivers, street racers, vehicles that have been modified for street racing, and other traffic violators.
The special enforcement is scheduled in concert with the Placer County Fair, which runs from June 22 through June 25 at the Placer County Fairgrounds in Roseville.
"We encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the fair," Roseville Police Chief Joel Neves said. "However, if you're going to drink, you need to plan ahead. Choose a member of your group to be your non-drinking 'designated driver.' Otherwise, if you drive under the influence, there's a better than 'fair' chance that one of our officers will arrest you."
Funding for the special patrols was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the Business, Transportation and Housing Agency.

Convicted street racers could get lengthy prison sentences and lifetime driving bans under tough new penalties unveiled Thursday by the Conservative government.
Hot rodders with souped-up muscle cars start a street race in this still from The Need for Speed, a documentary filmed in Toronto. (Canadian Press) The proposed legislation was spurred by several recent deaths and injuries in road accidents across the country.
If passed, it would specifically recognize street racing in assessing harsher penalties for a number of driving-related offences.
In cases where street racing was involved, the maximum prison terms for the following driving offences would increase:
Dangerous driving causing bodily harm: raised to 14 years from 10 years.
Dangerous driving causing death: raised to lifetime imprisonment from 14 years.
Criminal negligence causing bodily harm: raised to 14 years from 10 years.
Drivers with repeated convictions for street racing causing bodily harm would receive automatic two-year licence suspensions. Those with repeated convictions for racing causing death would face lifetime driving bans.
"Street racing is not about kids having fun," said Justice Minister Vic Toews in a statement. "It is a reckless and dangerous activity that has no place in Canadian communities."
In January, four men were killed in a Vancouver crash blamed on street racing.
The same month, Tahir Khan, a 46-year-old immigrant from Pakistan, was killed in Toronto when a Mercedes-Benz slammed into his taxi. In that case, two teenagers were charged with criminal negligence causing death.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper first announced the proposed changes last month in Vancouver.
Critics of the proposed legislation have argued that existing sections of the Criminal Code can already be used to impose harsh sentences for street racing.
Racing a deadly activity: father
A Sudbury, Ont., man whose 16-year-old son died in a suspected street race in April said he supports the tougher penalties.
"The government needs to send a message that racing is deadly. It's a very serious activity with a deadly impact," said Daniel Herard.
Patrick Herard was riding his bicycle to a friend's house at about 8:30 p.m. on April 23 when he was hit from behind by a speeding car. He was killed instantly.
Police say two cars were racing down the residential street. Two teenagers face charges of criminal negligence causing death and dangerous driving causing death.
Two cars used in a street race and seized by police were destroyed by York Regional Police, Thursday. (CBC) Daniel Herard, who is also a police officer, said the proposed law is a good first step, but said the government needs to develop education programs for teenagers about street racing.
Police crush street-racing cars
Armand La Barge, chief of police in York Region north of Toronto, said he wholeheartedly supports the proposed legislation.
La Barge said he believes street racing is on the rise, noting "movies like The Fast and the Furious, the glorification of it on the internet, on videogames."
York Regional Police had two street racing cars publicly crushed in Markham, Ont., on Thursday, where La Barge made his remarks.
The modified cars were seized in 2004 and 2005 after their drivers were stopped for speeding and dangerous driving.
"If [the new legislation] stops one individual from racing, if it saves one life or saves a family from going through the trauma of having to deal with somebody that's been injured in a street race, then quite frankly, it's worth it," said La Barge.
Police say 34 people have died as a result of street racing in the Greater Toronto Area since 1999.
