No kidding. Cause we all know that rapists and drug dealers are as easy to catch as speeding kids with loud exhausts.

Just making that statement proves that you have no clue about law enforcement.

So do you know what the tail-lights of a '65 Buick look like? I bet you don't know the different aspects of 1000 different cars.

That's is how our system works. Just how a cop can't convict a person of murder. He just has to have a reasonable suspicion. Think before you type some response out next time.

Cops are so brainwashed it's not even funny.

So since cops have nothing to do since they aren't smart enough to catch the real criminals they have to harrass people who like to fix up their cars just because it's easier? Makes a lot of sense to me. Now I know my tax money is being really well spent.

Read my previous thread about the guy who was a responsible adult minding his own business. How do you justify that? His car passed smog even though he had bolt ons but he was automatically labeled as a "street racer" just because his car was a little bit fixed up.

in that same view then what about people getting pulled over for modified exhaust who have stock exhaust? that is not a fix it ticket that is what happened when the state gave officers the right to be judge and jury on the spot. what i'm getting at is exhaust unless tested to be over the limits should not be something left in the hands of someone on the spot. tail lights unless obviously illegal so also be in this range, last i looked FD tails were lightly smoked not blacked out which to me is obviously illegal. sometimes officers just want to be dicks, there is no way you can change my mind about that because i have dealt with those officers before.

i will probably change my plan of attack anyways and it is something i have thought about doing for myself but i think it would make for an interesting venture. since obviously the loophole is the older model cars and since there is an abundance of them here i am going to start snatching up old roadsters and coupes and start converting them to rotary power, no more hassle and it will be legal in the states eyes so long as they pass the Db limit and all other vehicle codes.

I heard that. If I was driving a 63 vette stingray with a F*$king blower haning out of the hood with everything under the hood chrome and the loudest pipes you've ever heard I bet you I wouldn't get a ticket. A cop would give me the and smile. How is that enforcement of the law. Those cars started street racing. **** NASCAR it self was how the good ol'boys used to spen their time developing their skills so that they could out run the local cops while the ran their moon shine. B.S double standard.

Because the "law" has different standards for different types of cars based on year and make...

Not to be a dick or anything. Well actually yes, to be a dick, I'll be honest.

What's the purpose of the Police? What's written on the side of so many cruisers? "To serve and protect." That sorta goes out the window when you puss out and go after the things that a) generate revenue and b) aren't a pertinent threat. You guys don't bust drug dealers, ganglords and rapists because you don't want to? Give me a ******* break, you're known as a civic servant. Did you join the force thinking you'd just be the big dick walking around handing out tickets and teaching punk *** kids a lesson? You tell me what the police are really supposed to do, because it sure as hell doesn't seem like they do what they say they will.

Yeah, kids should be taught that they shouldn't speed around on busy *** streets, weaving in and out of traffic, that's obvious. But pulling everyone with a modified car over is just ******* stupid, and it's especially ******* annoying to honest enthusiasts.

the real question is. Is there anything we can do about this "problem" we are facing? or is it something we juss have to suck up and pray it doesnt happen to us? I fear bringing any of my cars out on the street now. Life has enough probs already, fear of driving our cars on the street shouldnt be one of them.

I'm personally hoping that this phenomenon will end when the Fast and Furious 3 is out of theaters. In the meantime, my car is staying in the garage....

My "Oppinion" has always been if it keeps kids off drugs and out of gangs.... close an eye....

Cali society does for Pot Smokers / Gay Marriage in Cali... either you're open minded or your're not... there's no picking of well... about That we Are, and This we're Not !

So if a kid finds a hobby that takes all of his time and $$, especially if he has no time to get into a gang or $$ for drugs, why is society at large so pissed... I'm all for curbing street racing, and opening drag strips, but to just non desciminantly pull over young kids, whose lives are in those cars, and say off to the crusher you go ??? There's something very counter productive going on here...

LiquidR1 might have a point there. I grew up around top notch sport bikes and you're right. Most of them don't pull over unless they are in an area that running would be futile. And I'm not just talking about punk kids either, grown men would keep going. The game has changed now though, helicopters and planes are impossible to out run.

I'm honestly curious if a petition would do any good at all? Anyone know anything concrete about this? Hell, just think of all of the people that could get involved if this was just kept on car forums. Much less if people were actually motivated to get off of their asses and go door to door about it. Just a thought.

i 100% agree with you, but then you prolly run into larger car and car part related thefts. I guess thats prolly better then gangs and drugs. Lesser of 2 evils?

I didn't live in Cali 3 years ago.

But in all honesty, that petition probably didn't go anywhere. Care to know why? Because at the first sign of adversity whoever was leading the charge said "**** this, it's hard and nobody wants to listen to us." That is what happens to 99.9% of petitions in this country. It takes someone with the willingness to see it through to the end. In my experience people would rather sit around a bitch about how shitty things are, but when it comes time for them to do something to fix it they just sit there and bitch some more. You might get some tough talk, but rarely any action. So to everyone out there that thinks this is such bullshit, and I do agree with you, then do something about it. I don't really have a leg to stand on seeing as I'm not even a true resident of Cali, nor do these laws affect me. But that doesn't mean that I won't help people out with this if need be. I'm not trying to trash talk anyone in here, I'm simply calling it how I see it.

Personally, with all the Illegal Aliens stealing SS#'s, Driving without a License, no insurance, no car seat, bla bla bla, they have plenty to do other than pull over every modified car they see. BUT, damn laws make it, "profiling" if you pull over people that look illegal. Not cars though..... fking BS. I playin a band with a cop, he does not bother pulling people for chit like this. But fk, some are just retarded ******** with a ego.

You know what's funny?

I bet when most cops signed up for the job, they were probably thinking that they were going to chase criminals, save people, and help society. I wonder if most cops would have taken their jobs if the job description was to "harrass people driving cars and hand out tickets all day" Must be a big disappointment.

Well chit, I am going to go buy another large white sticker that says, " The ACLU SUCKS!" Put it on my back window, and only hope it gives me a little leaway. LOLOL>...

I have one on the back of my truck, Says, "The ACLU and MEDIA SUCK!", and the cops that get behind me crack up. They hate the ACLU. So, hey, you neverknow.....

The reason why none of the petitions go throughis because we do not have the hook up. We do not know anyone in a position that can make changes there for it doesn't matter. Don't you notice that things only get changed when it hits hyome with the people who make the laws. It just so happend they don't drive 7's and are not getting pulled over for BS. There for changes wil not happen. Things like gay marriage, abortion, and such hit home with those that are in power and can make the changes. The is no one cares but us. WE could all start saying that we were born this way and that we shouldn't be getting tickets. I can't help modifying my car just like the next person can't help being gay. So we 7 drivers want our rights to modify as long as we pass our smog sniffer and dyno who gives a ****!
