Angry I got hit by a golf ball yesterday!!

I was playing golf. Having a decent round. 8 over par after 14 holes. So I'm walking off the 14th green toward the 15ht tee, and I hear "FORE"!!!. I duck, and cover my head. Then I get whacked in the left side by a golf ball. The stupid SOB didn't wait for us to get out of the way. He came up in his cart and apologized. I swore at him (more than once), and went back to the clubhouse to file a report. Then I went to the hospital to get checked out. The doctor said that it looked like I didn't have any cracked ribs, and that no blood in my urine indicates no kidney damage. It's pretty sore today, and I have a welt on my side ......... the size of a golf ball .

I got the name of his homeowners insurance, and filed a claim. I don't know what I am entitled to, but at least it will be something.

It has been awhile since I have worked for the insurance industry. I do not think you could file a claim against him since you were in the area of a ‘given risk’, in this place a golf course. In which, everyone accepts the risk of the possibility of getting hit by a golf ball. Another example is going to a baseball game. If the batter swings too hard and releases the bat into the stands, hits a fan, the fan cannot file a claim to his or her homeowners insurance.

Who knows, maybe things have changed since I’ve worked for the industry. Oh well, hope everything goes okay for you.

About a year ago, some impatient bastard tee'd off into us. Granted we're all hacks but were not slowing the pace of play. In any case, their tee shot literally bounced into our cart. I proceeded to grab my 3 wood and drive the ball back at them. Never had a problem with them afterwards...

No, they didn't laugh me out of the office ....... I phoned in the claim

Since I have owned 6 insurance offices (at the same time), I know a bit about the insurance business. They will pay. It's just a question of how much.

I'm still pretty sore, and the bruise has gotten bigger. It's turning from red to black & blue.

You have it exactly right. I'm going to destroy this nation, and then I will destroy the world. Then the rest of the universe. I can't be stopped .

why do you think insurance rates go up every year? because greedy bastards keep suing. do me a favor and don't come near my shop, i wouldn't want you to slip and sue me while on the property.

if you were at a baseball game would you sue the park if you got hit by a foul ball?

sheesh..

seriously, this is the kind of **** that makes it so dangerous to be middle class. If you're poor, you have nothing to lose (literally). If you're rich enough, you keep suing until the little guy runs out of money to defend himself. Middle class = lose all kinds of **** you worked your *** off for because some guy gets all bent out of shape over an accident.

How about this example:

You are stopped at a stoplight: The guy behind you loses his brakes and rear ends you. He didn't do anything wrong. You are bruised up, but nothing broken. You have to live with pain for a while while you heal. Do you say: "oh well you are a nice guy, so it's ok!!". Not likely!!

BTW, I am not planning on suing anyone. I just filed the claim with his company. This guy won't pay a penny ............. and he won't get his rates raised either.

Maybe you feel sorry for his poor insurance company

Why are you posting over here anyways? As I recall, you are way too uptight for the west forum.

By the way your false analogy is bullshit. Getting into a car accident is not the same thing as getting hit by a golf ball. Equating one to the other makes no sense.

I totally agree with Karak, and Pshaw, you ruin the spirit of what we should be all about. Go ahead and take advantage of that claim. You may as well tell them that your neck and back hurts while you are it.

I think what you have done is sad, and I am glad others feel the same way.

In this case... he chose to be on the course.

I've always wondered about the case where I am driving along and 'find' myself going along some golf course. I usually try to leave the area ASAP. But if I were hit by a ball and was not a golfer? What then?
