I JUST got my FD impounded because it had texas plates. I thought they would just given me a registration ticket or something. My eyes became 3 inches biggers when the cop said ok, start walking home....... or maybe it was just a mean cop.

So i bought my FD from texas. i live in Ca. for 4 months ive been driving with my texas plates on because i havnt finished the registration deal with smog. Ive paid the fees and got all the paperwork, but it says i need smog... I have insurance too.

So one night a cop pulls me over and asks for reg. Like i idiot i show my incomplete reg and then he pulls me out of the car.I should of said that i just bought it. Asks why i dont have Cali plates. I say cuz i need smog. 2 more cop cars come as backup . He says that if i dont have plates then all my reg and insurance dosent matter... I got confused.He did DUI test, Then he asks me where the drugs were in my car.. I got pissed and told him to tear my car apart and try to find them which he did for an hour.

All in all, at the end he said since u dont have plates and have had ur car over 14 days hes going to impound my car.they said "ok, start walking home" They didnt let watch the tow guy pull me FD up. I hid behind bushes and watched them bend my bumper.... Obviously i begged them to just give me a ticket and let me be. I lived 4 blocks away. Next day in went 6 hours later and paid 220$ and got my FD back with a bent exhaust and lip. Mileage was the same so i know they didnt go for a spin with my FD lol.

The funny thing is that they never opened my hood and didnt even mention my Exhaust or front plate. W.E dont **** with cops their animals.

I don't think the car was impounded because it had "out of state" tags, I'm sure it was impounded because you had not finished the registration process.

BTW, what insurance provider are you with that allows you to register a car without a proper exchange of ownership of the car? Doesn't the person whose name is on the Title have to sign along in the policy?

Also, my friend worked in the Skip Barber Racing School here in Laguna Seca and had New York plates (they are usually here for about 9 months) and was pulled over numerous times and was never given **** about. Hmm..

I know a friend has his car registered in Texas, but he has a CA License and his policy is from here as well. One time, he was pulled over and given **** about the plates, but he just said he was a student in TX and was just here visiting family and he was let off the hook..

-Plus the cops have no right to tell you that you can't stand around and wait to see your car get placed on the tow bed. He/she was just being dicks showing off his/her power, compensating for something else.
