what is states i have an 84 gls se and the **** wont pass smog i cant figure out what the hell is wrong with it so i figured if i could find one cheap i would just replace it. the one in there still pulls strong but it rev's eratically and i cant stop it tryed replaceing tps and some other stuff but every time i take it to smog i fails horibly. they say im running too rich too and i cant get it to go any leaner.

just fix it. it doesn't rev erratically because something's wrong with the motor--it's something wrong with something else. clean your throttle plate really well and reset the tps again.

did they do any tests on the cat?

no test was done on the cat but i think it needs to be replaced too. how do u check the afm what is it suposed to be set at?
