random question

was wondering if the 5speed bolts to any other engines. i have had a rotary before, and i was not happy with it. it doesn't have to be blisteringly fast ether (Miata 1.6?) i have a sbc, but im not really feeling it if there is another option that lets me keep the stock 5speed.

i agree with 12arotary, welding a bellhousing to match up with another engine isnt crazy expensive, especially if you have a buddy who can weld.

Yep. These "crazy" swaps you see and hear about all the time aren't crazy if you are in the know.

The bellhousing welding allows you to have some pretty sick gear ratios of your choosing if you look into stuff like that without having to buy expensive gear sets.

I'm dedicating this year to teaching friends and family who want to learn how to weld to weld. It's a good skill.

If you can get the bell housing from a particular 80's Mazda truck, then the TII trans will bolt to a 4G63. It's a 4-cylinder Mitsubishi motor used in the eclipse, talon, lancer, etc. Great motor IMO.

On a side note, I need to learn to weld. Would come in handy quite a bit.

A miata engine can be used with a bellhousing swap, but IIRC the input shaft will need to be swapped for one out of a miata box.

Remember this:

Six bolt 1g block

2g head

I used to be a dsm nut before i got into rx7's.

IIRC it was a b2200 or whatever the hell they're called. You can use a bellhousing from a mighty max pickup and it bolts right to a 4g63. Go custom driveshaft. You'll need it. You can make nasty power with 4g63's.

You can also make a destroked 4g64 or full stroke 4g64 if you so wish.

If you're going to "de soul" your car, make sure the juice is worth the squeeze.

If you've never heard a 4g motor with 272's and a gt35r screaming with an open dump you need to hear one asap.

Not on a youtube vid, in person. It'll make you say "i've gotta have that"
