LS2 Swap

Any of you planning on doing any ls2 swap? They say that ls2 is few pounds lighter than ls1. Not to mention bigger displacement from bigger bore and 400hp in stock form. I've also heard that these are interchangable with ls1 parts.

Might want to wait for them to be released before you start planning a swap around it.

You can get a brand new LS6 for around $6500 (no tranny). I couldn't imagine the LS2 being too much more than that.

$6500 is not a pretty penny? You still have to buy a harness, computer, tranny, clutch, etc to ahve it do you any good. It won't really be a cost effective item until they start showing up in wrecks en mass.

By the time you get accessories, harness, PCM, and tranny, you will be around $10k just for the drivetrain. I paid $3800 for mine, and the differences are minimal.

The big advantage will be the bore size, to go bigger with aluminum you need to resleeve($$$) or go iron which would ruin the car.

The engine will make alot of power with just heads/cam, 450-475 at the wheels with a bit more of a harder setup.

I finally picked up a LS1 FD, finished up the terms and it should be picked up next Saturday and on its way here!

Keeping it stock the first summer, then will see, heads/cam and leave it reliable.

Interesting. Mind if I ask who built it? I didn't know one was actually for sale. Or did you have Hinson build one for you?

Xchaos,

Its a Hinson parts car. I had planned on doing one of Brian's conversion for a while, talked to him about it a few times. I was just getting ready to pick up a rotary FD with plans on driving it with the rotary this summer and doing the swap over the fall/winter.

I literally was minutes from calling the seller of the FD I was going to buy when I found out about this LS1 FD for sale. I talked to the guy and bought it the next morning after doing some math.

Its going to Brian for a once over and then I'll pick it up last week in May.

Xchaos,

No it isn't. Something is real fishy with that car and if I get my posting straightened out at Torque Central I'm going to ask him directly.

After I saw that I emailed him, told him cash in hand, ready to buy sight unseen. Then I called him and left him a message. Didn't hear back but it still seemed for sale so I called back a few times more. Finally get ahold of him on the 3rd day and he completely blows off the phone call telling me "I've called at the wrong time", not a bad time, not an inconvienent time, but the wrong time. Guy had a real attitude over it.

I searched on posts by him and his buddy, his buddy mentions problem with "his" FD LS1 conversion that had a bent frame from an accident.

Too cheap and too much fishy stuff going on with that car, I did try to call back a few times but no one ever answers the phone and I've left messages on the answering machine.

If I was that hot to sell a car I certaintly would call back an interested buyer.

This other car became available on Friday and took that one instead.

Cool. I am also skeptical of that car. IMO, it would take a good bit of abuse to smash the oilpan like that too, even with poor condition springs.

Post up some pics and info on TC once you get your car. Let us know if you need any help...lots of good ppl over there with experience.
