Are my dash guages intimedated?

Hey guys,

The other day I fired up my 383 sbc for the first time in the rx7 ('86 GXL)
My 200-4r tranny only has 5 qts of fluid in it and the radiator isn't hooked up so I couldn't leave it running for long. But I had a friend next door who was running his dirt track racer... so I had to start my motor with no exhaust either
Anyways, eventhough the car only ran for a few seconds, the oil pressure guage came to life and just climed all the way to 110lbs! But my dad had this motor built by a very good machinest in St.Louis, and it was dyno'd there, so he knows it holds the right oil pressure. Yesterday I noticed that when I turn the key to the "on" position, the oil pressure guage will start to clime on its own. I have the stock rx7's sending unit screwed into the back of my manifold. The oil pressure wire coming from the rx7's wire harness had two legs to it, one obviously hooked up to the sending unit, and the other had a little black box type thing on the end, I just grounded that part cause I see similar "black boxes" grounded to the frame also. Does this sound familiar at all???
Also, my tach is about 1000 rpms high. I did the tach recal on granny's web site but at idle it's showing 2100rpm, I haven't verified that yet with onother tach, but I now it's way high. Any suggestions?
And before I get worked up on my water temp guage if that doesn't work right... I got an adapter from ganny's and put the rx7's sending unit in the side of my block and hooked up the water temp wire right to it.... am I set or is there anything else I need to do?
Thanks!
brandon
