Upgrading to 17" rims now...

So after looking long and hard for good 16" tires and getting all kinds of opinions on them, I've decided to upgrade to 17" rims.

I have stock suspension, but have some RSR downsprings ready to install.

Looking at 17x8 5x114.3 + 40 wheels with either 235/45/17 or 245/40/17.

Can I put 245's all the way around or should I stagger or should I just run 235's all the way around?

and will the RSR springs cause problems with these size wheels and tires?

Thanks for the replies in advance!

I'd recommend 17x9s with 255/40s in the rear---you definitely want wider wheels than stock. Ideally you'd want that at each corner, but you may need coilovers for it to clear in the front. I'm not positive b/c I've been running coilovers since 2001.....I'm sure someone will chime in

The +40 is going to be close up front. You can run that with a 235 and rolled fenders.

Thanks guys. I'm trying to avoid rolling the fenders.

Should I be concerned with the moving of the tires from front to back to run the same size all around? or just stagger them like Goodfella does?

I don't want to do coilovers just yet. Just the RSR springs and 17" wheels so that my tire choices are alot more open.

Here's my 2 cents:

The stock offsets are +50. If you plan to run anything other than the stock offsets, you should also plan to roll your fenders.

Next, I wouldn't be all that concerned with tire rotation. If you can do it, great. If not, I wouldn't make it a big deal.

I have 17's Enkei rpf1 17*9 +40 with KYB struts and eibach springs and I can tell you there is no rubbing that I have experience even with close to full lock under load.

Also they look clean and aren't too expensive. Running Falken RT-615's really love those as well.

You forgot to include your tire size (as that is pretty important as well).

I have a few sets of rims:

Stock rims with 245's all around
17x9 +43 with 255's all around
17x9 +47 Front, 17x10 +47 Rear. No tires on them but I will probably run 255 front and 275 rear.

I'm lowered with Tein S-Tech springs riding on Tokico shocks. I do have the front fenders rolled.

Mahjik,
What kind of wheels are the 17x9 +47 and 17x10 +47? Those are nice offsets and sizes. -Nathan
