Thumbs up Pirelli P6000 255/40-17's $100ea

I just got a set from DiscountTireDirect . Very nice, not as sticky as the old A032R's but not as noisy either. Very good compromise between short wear race tires and long wear street tires. I think the normal price is $154ea. You can add insurance online and also have them shipped to an America's Tire store (sister company). The store prefers that you print out the ad and ask them to match the price. This also keeps them from charging you a "not buying from us fee". If you go elswehre to have them mounted them may not do it at all like Wheel Warehouse.

Those HAVE to be better than the old Sumitomos on your old Fikses LOL You know the P6000s came stock on the old E36 BMW 3 series right? The 3er is hardly a match for even a stock FD Rx7. Sell those and get real Pirellis! P-Zero Asimmetricos. They were stock on all '95 R2 FD Rx7s, man!! Lucky for us we have it even better. 255/40-17 Pirelli P-Zero Asimmetricos are Porsche OE fitment N2 series, so we'll get stickier and better performing Asimmetricos than the regular off-the-shelf yellow-lettered Asimmetricos

wondering how the pirelli p6000s have been for you? i'm looking into getting some inexpensive but GOOD tires in that size. the p6000s are $100 each. damned that's a good price! let us know what your opinion of the p6000s have been thus far. i do some track time also (if that matters to anyone).

went ahead and ordered a set of pirelli p6000 in 255/40-17. my local discount tire retailer priced them @ $110 each, which includes mounting/balancing and $10 extra each wheel for road force balancing.

I had to wear off the first few mm to get rid of the slick stuff, now they are stickier. They are much quieter then my old A032R's (which required a little burn out to get sticky)excellent for street. I was comfortable with them in the week of winter that we had rain. For $100ea, it's a no brainer ...two thumbs up.

Go, have you any problems with your P6000s pulling to the right or left? I have the same sizes as you (just barely a week old), and my tires cause the car to drift to the left. I had the car aligned twice (to damned near perfect specs), and the car still drifts ever so slightly to the left. I bought five of these tires, so I began rotating the spare and moving the fronts clockwise. The Spare went to LF, and LF was removed. I drove the car, and it still pulled to the left. I pulled the RF, and put the LF in its place. The pull seems to have diminished slightly, so perhaps only the RF was bad?

No pull on these. I did have a pull on my previous Falken tires. Sounds like you have a radial pull. Why don't you ask them for a replacement, since you narrowed down to one?

Go, well, that's good. I'm sure Discount Tire will replace the RF. I wonder if it's worth checking the rears, and putting them up front to be sure?

I finally tried the Pirelli P6000s @ a couple of track venues--Putnam Park and Mid Ohio.

Street performance, they're very silent, smooth, and apart from the slight pull, they're wonderful.

Wet performance was surprisingly good, compared with the P-Zero Asimmetricos.

Dry track performance was close to P-Zero Asimmetrico and about even with Yokohama AVS Is in the same size. I managed decent track times with the P6000s; they do howl quite a bit when pushed hard, and they go away after about 20 minutes of 9/10ths lapping...

Wet track performance was better than AVS Is and P-Zeros. I ran the dry line in the wet @ Mid Ohio, without too much trouble, and passed all the 911s, except for the 4wd, C4s and Subaru Imprezas WRXes.

For $100 each for 255/40-17, the Pirelli P6000s exceeded my expectations of them.
