Pirellis, Bridgestones (potenza like woah), Yokohomas, Nitto, Kumho.
What do you think is best for all around driving, twice the speed limit, drifting if thats your deal, occassional burnouts and donuts, dragging, road racing.
Just an all around great tire
Best grip (sidewall grip too) and tire wear would probly be most important

IMO Yokohama makes the best tires.

I personally like the Nitto 555r's but thats cause i havnt had any good performance tires my freind had those on his old mustang and they hooked pretty good. Ive heard good things about the potenza's and some yokohama's.

Tire brand is a personal thing...sort of like wheel choice, your brand of boxers, or what type of woman you like!

Also the stuff you list are mutually exclusive performance characteristics for any one tire to have. For example drifting tires are NOT good road racing tires; good tire wear will not provide the sticky performance you need for auto-x or road racing, or for wet driving. Just about any V-rated tire can go twice the speed limit, as long your car is pointed straight ahead. Drag racing tires will not have stiff enough sidewalls for road racing or auto-crossing. Doing burn outs or donuts, for the hell of it is a waste of your hard-earned money.

I propose you break your performance traits down into categories, and ask us which tire is best for that particular category.

Here's an example:

Drag racing--Mickey Thompson ETs
Road racing--Hoosier R3S03
Auto crossing--Hoosier A3S03
Burnouts, Donuts and Drifting--Cheap-*** Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 or any high UTQG tire
Sticky street tires wet or dry--Bridgestone Potenza S-03s
Sticky street tires dry only--Pirelli P-Zero Asimmetricos
Stiffest sidewalled street tires--Pirelli P-Zero Asimmetricos
Best tire wear--Any high performance all-season tire with a UTQG of >320

As you can see no one tire can possibly do all of these things.

Aye most companies make goods tires just depends on what exactly you want. I run BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW's on my 87 TII. They stcik VERY good in the dry, Good in the wet, Corner good and have a decent treadwear considering it's a performance tire. Not too expensive either. I think I payed around 150.00 a tire.

The Toyo T1S's are very good. I wish I could afford a set.

I've used the Pirelli, Nitto, Yokohama and have a set of Toyo T1-s on the way.

Personally I think they should rename them the Nitto 55slide. Those things have no traction but sure do last a long time.

So far the Yokohama AVS Sport have been the best all around performer. Waiting to see how the Toyo are.

I'm gonna need new rear tires soon and was wondering if the yokohama a520s were any good. This tire is priced reasonably for my budget right now.

are discontinued. Try the AVS Intermeidates. They are $81 each in 225/50ZR16 from Tire Rack.

Really,Why?I just bought two of them from The Tire Rack.Had them installed on the rear today.Don't know how they do yet.I did have a set about three years ago though and from what I remember they did pretty good but I only got about 12k to 15k miles out of them but that was before I started running staggered sizes( this makes my third set of rears to one set of RE71's on the front in about a year and a halfs time).Anyway they are replacing AVS intermediates which stuck really well but didn't last very long.I really like the Bridgestone Potenza RE71 but they are discontinued and the only size tire rack has is 205/55ZR16 but I run 225/50ZR16 on the rear so I've had to switch to something else.I guess Bridgestone and Yokohama are my favorites at this time.

As far as NON R-compound tires go, I HIGHLY recommend Yokohama AVS Intermediates. They wear like a bitch unfortunately, but they are sticky as hell. The sidewalls are pretty stiff. They grip pretty well in the rain. They have a ton of useable slip angle before they break loose and before they break loose they give you plenty of warning. Slides with these tires are very gradual and controllable. They start loosing there grip in the rain after a couple of months though once the tread depth starts to wear down. As long as tire life isn't much of an issue for you, then these are the tire for backroads-driving, auto-x'ing, or for generally hauling ***. They are also cheap as hell. I paid $75 for 225/50/15's on tirerack.com

Anyone have any experience with the Falken AZENIS tire or BFGoddrich T/A KDW?

I'm using Toyo T1 s right now but they are beginning to wear thin and are breaking loose from me...

Have to be yokhama AVS Sports those things are sticky as hell there ab out the the only thing to get enuff traction to get you home if you get stuck in the rain. They don't last to long though, but neither did any of the pirellis that i tried and theyt were ****.
