Offset...

"With the right offset (I forget however) you can run with 235 up front and 265 in the rear. The right offset and tires make all the difference."

Anyone know what the offset is for this combo???

You will want probably around +30 to +33mm offset. I'm assuming you have an FC by your avatar? What width of tires are you going to be running?

I'm assuming 8 or 8.5 rims? For my 90' GTU I had 16x8" Volk TE-37's with a +38mm offset, and I was going to be putting on 225's all around. The rear isn't a problem, but up front you have to worry about rubbing the springs. 235's are 10mm wider than 225's obviously, so that puts you half of that, 5mm closer to the spring. So subtract 5mm from +38 and you have +33mm. Don't quote me on this though, but I think +33 would be fine for you. Although I have coilovers so that gives me more clearance. Just to be safe you might want to go +30 or something.

I plan on putting coilovers in as well... I was told that they would allow larger tire...
Front:
17x8 w/ 38mm offset allows 225
Rear:
17x8.5 w/ 33mm offset allows 265

oh cool great info
right now I have FD wheels on my FC runing the A032r
225/50/16 front
245/45/16 rear

im getting the Racing Heart cp 35 in 17 inch
7.5 front
8 in rear
planning on Yokohama A032R
235/40/17 front
255/40/17 rears

or maybe the AVS sports ( but I have never used them before so Im not sure of them) anyone else use them?

I have the coil overs and caster/camber plates. my car is going to the body shop after I get the new wheels and tires. so if the rub a little I will have the body shop guys bang / bend out the fenders a little to tweek it in there.

Tony

Ive already got 225's to fit the front with no problems and the tires that I want dont come in 225 in 17 the smallest they have is 235/40/17

so Im hopping some can shed some light on the offset to get them to fit.

affinitee thanks for the info

Afinitee, what wheels are you getting?

FYI, for the rear in a 9" or 9.5" width you will want a 35-38 respectively. Anything in this range will work wonderfully.

For the front, I typically use a +30 tp +40 on an 8" wheel. But when running the +30, I rub with a 225/40/17, so I know you would rub with the 235. I'm pretty sure you would need coilovers and use slightly higher offset to tuck the wheel in the fender without rubbing.

The best thing to do is to get the coilovers on there and then measure the available backspacing and from that calculate the perfect offset for your 8" or 8.5" wheel up front. Then after finding out the actual section width of the tire you're using, you can take that into consideration as well.

This is what we do to fit Fikse's. If you need a measurement guide sheet please go to their website at Fikse.com , and look for their measurement sheet icon on the left of the screen.

Good luck, Rishie

Oh yeah, again what rims are you getting? Are you getting a PHAT deal? Cause if we can get it, we will hook you up. If it's a custom wheel to be built we should be able to get you a pretty damn good deal as they are more expensive and offer more room for racernet pricing. hehe.

Rishie...
Thanks for all the great info!!!
As far as the rims go.... I'm not sure on what rims I want yet, I'm just trying to get the correct fit first then I will decide between the rims that offer the proper offset....

I want to use:
F= 17x8 w/ 225's
R= 17x9 w/ 265's
What is proper offset for this combo on mildly upgraded stock suspension????
I plan on putting coilovers on, but I want to use money towards other mods right now...
