Spacers always push the rim toward the outside to the fender lip.

I could argue, but i'm just tired of this thread.... Its all your Ted.
Nah dude, I know why your numbers are consistently 10mm more offset than mines.
It's your Tein's.
I only got to mess with a set of Tein RA's on an FC, and I figured the extra clearance was due to the strut being spun all the way up so the lower spring perch is way up high.
This gives the 10mm clearance no problem.

The FC running the SSR GP-theta's mesh was using Ground Controls.
Anyone who has used the GC's knows the lower spring perch up front ends up being all the way at the bottom, effectively causing more interference over the stock strut lower spring perch.

Hey Ted, I'm done pout'n I just get so baffled sometimes..

Heres another set of wheels I had. OZ Superlegrra 17 x 8 +40 x 4 w/ stock shocks and Eibach's... This worked w/ 225-45 too... I had to ever so slightly buzz a bur of the casting (stock shock) , but were talking minor buzz'n, but then my 8.5 +40 RPF1's required no buzz'n. I just bought a set of Falken TR-615 tyres, hope they work.... THese tyres are a trip

FC Wheel Setup

These fit if the front springs are swapped for coil overs (or any non-tapered spring):

Front: 17x8 w/225/45/17 38mm offset

Rear: 17x9 w/255/40/17 38mm offset

this is my current setup, but i am pretty sure 235 up front and 275 in the rear would work

18X8.5+45mm????

You didnt read the rest of the thread did ya?????

the WHEELS alone will push towards the springs by 24mm ... you need to run a 20mm spacer just to get the wheels to clear and then you have to worry about the tire sidewalls....

PLUS the wheel will extend OUT 14mm by itself.. with proper tires, that would look nice.. HOWEVER, you'll have to run a big assed spacer to clear the inners, and that will push the tire out past the fender

The lowes ADR goes with the 18x8.5 inch cypher wheel backspacing is +35 MM and thats still going to hit the springs without a spacer

if you really like the Cyphers.. they make it in a 17X7 +40MM backspacing that will fit just like the stock wheels.

I think maybe we should turn this into a thread of wheels sizes that won't work

Actually.... I thik we need to filter out all the crap in this thread, compile it and post a sticky of what we KNOW will work, and an explination of the way backspacing, wheel width and tire size changes the geometry right on the FIRST page!!!!!!

This thread is getting too long to filter through!!!! I've been doing my wheels research for about a year now, and reading this thread for someone who has never thought about it before will make their brain melt!!!!!!!!

Coil overs may take care of some of the fitment issues.. but running a non tapers spring on the stock shocks is not going to help because the spring perch is just as much of a problem as the springs... its still less than 10mm from a stock tire.

Smile ted...

I know that all spacers push the wheel outwards, but what i meant is did the spacer push the wheel/tire out past the lip of the fender? Or is it just nice and flush now?

Okay, I had to reference back to the original post...

17" x 8" +35 with a 1/4" spacer?
1/4" spacer is like 6mm, so this effectively turns the offset to +29.
The 225 wide tire should fit pretty flush with the fender.

Well... just laid out 1600 bucks for rims and Kuhmo MX's.... lets hope they work..... I'll post pice of my success ..... or failure.......

17X7.5+38 with 215/45/17's up front
17X8.5+40 with 245/45/17's on the ***....

fronts will fit perfect.....

Rears.. the wheel tire combo should push the edge of the tires out 17.5mm and in the same... it should tuck insid ehte fenders and just clear the inner edge of the lip without rolling it... we'll see!!!!

That should work no problem...I'm running 17x8's and 9's with 35mm offsets , 225/45's and 255/40's on a stock suspension no problem.

yeah.. I went conservative on the first set of sneakers on the rear.. Tirerack won't gaurantee fitment on the rears.. and i'm a cheap bastard about paying return shipping, restocking fees and all that nonsense..

The fronts are the exact wheel/tire combo they suggest for this wheel..

Heres a hint..... If you want to buy from Tirerack... there are wheels that they carry that will fit an FC but aren't listed if you plug in the car.. for the FC they don't offer staggered wheels.. they just make sure it will fit the front and then offer it as a 4 wheel set.

But you CAN plug in a third gen (or any other car with a similar stock setup) and then hit "closeup view" of the wheels and it will show you the offset of the wheel you selected!!!!!!!!

O.K. I'm ready to make my wheel order and just wanted to confirm the will fit. Fronts will be 17x8 +28 with 225/45/17 and the rear I have an option of 17x9 +27 or +17 with 255/40/17. So whats going to look better in the rear I don't want the wheels outside the fenders. Suspension will be rbsprings with agx shocks. Any input would help -----I don't want to get stuck with wheels I cant use. Thanks.

^^ I believe you will have to roll the fronts quite a bit to prevent those from rubbing.

I read in this thread that +28 was the perfect offset for the front my main concern was the rear I guess I need to think about the front too.

It should work front and rear.
I dunno what kinda tires you're running, but you might run into a slight clearance problem with the fender lip.
If you do, rolling the fender is not that big of a deal.

13mm is just 1/2"
That's not that bad.

ok, i'm not quite sure if this size will fit without the use of a spacer:

16x7 +42 225/50

this might be very tight and may be fairly dependent on what tire i use, as different tires will have slightly different clearances. but i guess i am looking for a general or worse case situation.

if i do need to use a spacer, what size am i looking at?

thanks

^^ A 5mm spacer will leave you with about 5-10mm clearance between spring perch and tire and still lots of clearance between rim and fender.

I agree.
Get the smallest spacer you can find.
A 5mm or 1/4" one is pretty easy to find.
You might be able to find a 3mm one from some of the import rim stores.
Any of them should work.

What would happen with a setup with 17X8.5 +28 offset. Will +28 stick out to far? I really dont want to roll any fenders and I heard that 35-38 was about perfect. Any help would be great.
