well in reality, inner clearance totally depends on the tire and the coilover used. (i cant speak for stock struts).
on tein flex's, the spring perch is a tad higher than the lip of a 17" wheel. the tires i have (245 BFG's) have rim protectors, so they stick out a little more than a 245 that doesnt. my 255 A032R's, with no rim protectors, have more clearance on the inside.
different suspension may sit differently, so the only way to really know is to try it. or copy someone else's setup.
heres a pic with the 245 BFGs (with rim protector). and no, it doesnt rub at all, even with sidewall flex or whatever.

As a rule of thumb for clearing 99% of coilovers for FC i use a 17x9 +15. That's a safe backspacing bet.

hey i was wonder what size widebody fenders i would need to run 18x9.5 +14 Nismo LM GT-1 wheels on my FC.

 

So I intend on taking my FC and making it a street/drag car and I want to get a set of Centerline Convo Pro on there. They come in 15"x8, 8.5, 9, 10, up to 15". Where would I run into a fitment problem? Say I wanted to throw in some 15x9's on M/T drag radials at 275/50/15, what offset would be required so that I'm not hitting struts or fenders?

 

Ok i have an AE and i read the first 25 pages and i woudl like to knwo just how close i might come with these wheels. I dont want to use wider fenders and i wanna keep it flush as possible. I would like 17x8 in the front and 17x9's in the back. If i would have to i could settle with the 17x7.5's for the front but the offset is where I'm unsure of and they are limited with the offsets so I'm curious how flush i could really make it.

All depends on suspension.

Figure at minimum a 5mm spacer, to net a 8" +30.

Worst case a 10mm spacer to acheive a +25

Rear is no problem, only need spacers to clear suspension up front.

Fenders, not needed if you run over 2 degs camber most likely. A lot depends on tire selection.

You're only talking about 10mm wider fender needed, if any at all.

I have the same exact FR500 wheels as Josh and all I had to do was hammer the fender lip in, the front fits with no issues what so ever. I had to do this to the rear aswell but the bead of the wheel sticks out just past the fender. If you want to be super low, you're going to have to run a stretch on the rear and hammer your fender lining. It doesn't require a flare unless you're running meaty tires like Josh. Only difference between mine and his car is the brand of coilovers and tire size. I run zero camber front and rear.


For those of you concerned about the 17x8+35, those are the exact size of these mustang wheels, and they fit no problem.

Here is my friend's car on PSM coilovers with my old stang wheels. No fender mods needed. Keep in mind they will fit stock body, stock suspension no worries. You just need to run the right size tires.






If you like that stance, check out Parts Shop Max coilovers, I got rid of my JIC's for them and what a difference. They include castor adjustment aswell.

17x9 +35 255/40/17 in the rear

Will i need to roll the fenders at all with that setup?

Sure, what kind of shots do you need? And I'm putting my coilovers on tomorrow so, I'll take them then.

 

Those fit, The only issue you may run into for the fronts is if you are using sleeves like the "ground control" ones where the collar usually sits right in the area of least inner tire clearence or certain lowering springs like tanabe's or tein's where they seem to widen the taper of the front spring earlier then the stock springs and you are running a very squared off(blocky) tire. No issues with fender clearence.

 

Front Rims are 17x8.0
Rear Rims are 17x9.0


Offset: +35mm
im just curious what tire size i should use i dont know but can someone tell me if they will fit w/ stock fenders and no over hangor just like a mm overhang thank you and .. will they hit stock coilovers

That's a very subjective question.

Honestly it all comes down to how much roll, camber, and tire size you decide to choose. All relative to the wheel's width. hehe.

So best thing to do is look through here and see what fitments people are running that you like. once you find it, shoot the member a PM. I'm sure you'll get some more concrete info that way.

It sounds like you're talking no pull, just a standard roll.

Are you going for a grip fitment, or a stretch fitment?

225/40-17 front tires, might need a 5mm spacer to clear the front spring, rears will work fine in a 255/40-17 tire. No fender rolling or pulling, the 5mm spacer wont require longer studs or anything.
