I am starting to wonder if this was really just smoke and mirrors for something that doesn't exist actually, I mean I see some pictures and the like but, never have i run across someone so hell bent on NOT releasing a product with this many people offering help, makes no sense, other than the obvious.
Dude, you need to quit with that crap. It exists, I've seen it in person, and everyone who attended Mazdafest got to see them in action. Shut the hell up with your conspiracy crap.
And don't bash the guy for wanting to cover his ***. We live in a liability based society, that's the shitty truth. When a woman can win a lawsuit over some coffee she spilled, anything is fair game.
Maybe instead of whining, you should get off your *** and make a kit yourself. Everything Joel did can accomplished by an intelligent person and emachineshop.com. He has no responsibility to "the community" to release what he did. It's his, and at the very least you can use it as inspiration instead of complaining about how he won't share his hard work with you.

To trust... You're allowed to think what you want. You're allowed to roast who you want. Just know that what some of your ideas are infeasible and poorly thought through. I'm sorry if you're disappointed these aren't yet for sale. Me too.
Yes, I could probably sell 15-20 kits at the drop of a hat. For that I'd clear a couple grand profit. ONE lawsuit, whether valid or not, whether a waiver existed or not, and that's all wiped out including a healthy chunk of my admittedly small life savings. I've looked into all the steps required for LLCs and liability protection and the costs are just too high. No one would pay the prices that would result if I passed that on.
I think I've been pretty up front about both the fact that this was intended to be a group buy and then the means be which I discovered just how hard that really could be.
Liability is something you can't "get around" it's something you have to understand your responsibility for and handle. It's too easy for lawyers to get a hold of this thread. To prove that Frijolee = Joel Payne and that pictures up top are from my garage...
To Mex and Macz, you guys both seem like awesome cats. Sorry I didn't get to give you a ride. I'm hoping to have the car back on the road in the next couple months.
To everyone else... don't count on these anytime soon.

I was going to say something very simular. Well said and I agree 100%. trust7 you've helped nobody, if anything it seems your behavior would steer the OP away from helping anyone none the less release his engineering that went into his brakes. Chill out.

No worries, and to everyone else I AM chilled, I am just a roasting kind of guy, don't take it so personally, now......
Frijo/Joel, simple solution, have Rx Doctor delete this thread and go about doing what I said in the first place its simple, it always is, you want to own up to something that you don't NEED to own up to, you built something and garnered information that we can all use and gain some benefit from but yet you are finding out why small companies have a HUGELY hard time ramping up and building from an idea, this has always been our downside (America's) we do and don't support small business at the same time. I am not suggestion you reduce or find a way to deal with your liability I am suggesting you remove it entirely and yes it can be done, the reason I am on you about smoke and mirrors is because your language seems to suggest that you want this protection because the kit doesnt work or doesnt exist, I mean as I said every single manufacturer known to man of a part makes it VERY clear they are for offroad use only and therefore carry NO warranty express or implied and to boot, they even say using the parts can get you injured or killed, if you don't want to take the responsibility because you feel you did something wrong then pass it on bro, someone will take the torch and run with it, crap send me the kit and information and I will talk to people and make sure its solid, do it to my own car then find a way to release it.

Pardon the slow reply. Just saw this.
My focus has mostly been just getting my car back on the road. The good news is that it's been back up for a couple of weeks now. I just barely missed SevenStock (bummer, as I had tons of fun being the heretic a year ago), but an electrical gremlin with the self exciting alternator gave me some headache there for a while.
Unfortunately there's still no luck with product liability for making the brakes happen as a purchasable kit for others. At the pricepoint I'd have to sell this you might as well buy something truly off the shelf and pick up a prop valve to be sure the balance is right.
I've been thinking maybe I could put together a master write-up of what I did and what I considered in doing it with all the dimensions and what not to make it a lot easier for other folks to recreate. Charge folks for a hard copy to save you a ton of time prototyping everything, plus it might be a good reference for identifying torque specs and what not for future use.
What I can't do is give a complete drawing set to have you exactly what I did. I would really just be an aid to follow in my footsteps.
I'll be bringing my car out to the bolsa chica beach run on the 15th if anyone around SoCal wants to get a better look.

can we just lock this thread mods or something, so we don't keep getting these stupid teases over and over again, the guy is obviously not going to do it so this is dead, if he does he can start a new thread with asking who wants the info, or just pm/email it to those who have expressed interest. Wack I say, wack.
