Just Installed some Stance GR+ Coilovers on my TII

The coilovers arrived earlier today while I was at work, I was able to install this evening. I still have to test drive and do some tweaking for dampening but it's all in. I must say they seems like really good quality stuff just by handling during installation, very solid and precise.

Stance GR+

This is how it is after the install, it might settle a bit but probably not much, if it doesn't rub this will be perfect- maybe just a bit lower....

ive had the GR+Pros for a while now and will say they are for the money the best coilovers out there. Dampening is awesome, everything about them rocks.

Awesome, definitely best bang for buck budget minded coilover.

Make sure you check your spring preloads, or reset them whenever you install new coilovers. It's very possible that they are not set evenly out of the box.

I have 2 more FC Stance coils in stock GR+ or Pros.

Rishie,

I was wondering how to reset the spring preload. I was checking the distances between the top mount and the spring seat to make sure they were even before installing. I noticed that the rears were uneven by at least a 1/4", so I just moved the one up to match the other but I have no idea where they are actually supposed to be set to start with, is there a defined starting point for spring preload?? Thanks a ton for your help!

To achieve the best ride quality you'll want to just have enough preload so there's no slop in the spring.

That's about it.

So put the car up on jackstands. No need to remove coilovers.

1. Loosen locking collar, loosen lower spring perch.

2. Once that spring has some slop you can use one of your hands to hold it snug up against the uppermount. Then spin the lower perch until it touches the spring.

3. Once touching the spring you can use your "PALM GRIP" to spin it until you feel some decent tension. At that point you should be good.

JUST DO ONE SIDE OF THE CAR, take your measurements for overall spring length and match up on the OthER SIDE.

So if it's a 7" spring, you might only want about 1/8" of preload on that spring. That should be fine.

Make sure to check spring preloads after about 2-4 weeks once the springs have broken in you might need to retighten.

anytime, that's what i'm here for.

For damping start in the middle of the adjustment range and then work up or down from there.

So start with like 7 front and 7 rear. See if it induces oversteer or understeer. Then dial that out.

since you're on the subject.. is there any benefit to preloading springs? is it only for corner weighting with an even ride height?

With a coilover like this you wouldn't need to preload the spring for corner balancing since ride height can be adjusted from the lower bracket.

Adding preload will effectively increase the spring rate and increase chances of coil bind under heavy compression, to my understanding.

Thanks man, I'm gonna test drive this weekend and might go just a tad lower if I'm not rubbing.

Don't have to worry about that, it's all twisty bumpy farm roads around here until you get to the county roads and highways.

Maybe tomorrow, I have to go to work now and it'll be dark by the time I get home. But I will be taking plenty of pics once the ride height is finalized.

The bodies and valving are the same, unless custom spec. The difference is that the PRO, now called SS+, has a helper spring in the rear to allow for more droop travel.

Can you please send me an email to autornd@gmail.com so we can discuss what is most suitable for your uses? Make sure to include your full shipping address.

Thanks, rishie
