18"x8" BBS RG-R RG 703

I got a little aggressive on the tire size when fitting a set of BBS RG703 18x8 (offset 40). Tires where 18/245 Aspec Ratio "40".. Recommended max spec. 18/245 35. The oversize plus other factors like graduated spring rate Tien Tech S, contributed to an instant unhappy rub.

Fortunately friend had a "fender roller" which cleaned things up nicely. No heat needed but courage required. Fortunately no cracking on the 22 year old paint (rim not flatenned completely).

Whoops!

No Problem!

The RG-R most closely resembles the Spirit R rim. Here is a table from the BBS-Japan site for suggested wheel sizes for 1996 FD. I wonder if "Tuner" designation means "some modification necessary". Note table includes offset ratios. Note PFS refers to the BBS specific hub rings for their wheels. The "PFS" for FD can be found on the BBS-USA site. It seems each hubring they recommend for FD has the same part number. We found the recommended hub ring to require some torquing down, which makes the wheel difficult to remove. later.
