Just got my confirmation. The color was listed as incorrect on my ship status on their page so I called to verify that I was getting grey. Steve said, "Yep, we have you down for GREEN so that's what we shipped."

I'm nervous now that the greenish grey, is going to be more of a greyish green like the pic they posted of the 3 colors back from annodizing.

Got my kit in, they look awesome. Quick question though that might appear silly: I ordered two sets of pads front and rear for a total of four sets. Does a "set" equal four pads to cover both calipers front or rear or does a set equal 2 pads, enough for one corner? I thought by ordering four "sets" I would have complete kit for the car and a backup set for when they wore out.

The calipers are a lot greener than I had expected, but I still prefer it to the black or red.

My weekend is stacked with the MotoGP, but hopefully I'll get these installed by Sunday!

Howard or anyone else that has installed the rear rotor kit.

How do I get that stock rear metal guard off? Its the piece that used to protect the back of the stock rotor from the hub assembly and starts out at the hub and fans out and over the rotor. Its not held on by any bolts like you said and seems to be pressed into the assembly. Should I just get a angle grinder and grind the whole thing out by tracing the inner hub?

Huy, I've heard tin snips work well .

I'm not very happy with the 'grey' calipers after seeing the most recent photo. They look really green, and I don't want my red car having a christmas-themed motif.

I'm contacting RB on monday about it.....the picture previously posted for the greyish green was certainly not that color. Anyone with black or red want to trade?

I don't want to be difficult, and I'm certainly excited to install this quality brake setup on my FD, but the pic posted by hyperion is a far cry from the one above.

I agree. The color portion of anodizing is simply dipping the part in a dye bath. I don't understand why hyperion's kit is coming out so green in comparison to the pic above. I understand different cameras produce colors differently, but both pics are with flash and that can't be that far apart, so that tells me that the dye is different. It can't be that hard to find a (true) grey dye.

I'll be calling as well (even though mine have shipped). That is far greener than what we agreed to. I actually changed my order from black to grey (green). Regretting that move.

YEP. That's EXACTLY what I said in my post above when Steve said we shipped your green parts. I was nervous when I saw the pic a few pages back of the 3 calipers, but seriously.... I'm an M.E., and I have parts annodized all the time and i understand that there is some color variance but that is rediculous. I'm regreting my choice if it looks "Green" and will be wishing I had gone red.

I realize that variations in color production between cameras, difference in lighting the pics are taken in, and our own monitors plays a big part in the difference between what we see, but there simply is too much variation between the pics.

Yeah I caught that post. But the instructions also say that there may be some 12mm bolts and unless I really am blind, I dont see them. I just want to be sure Im getting it all done correctly, pardon me for being worried. If I dont get some other input, then Ima just cut away.

The second and third picture look very similar, the third picture just has a lot more light. RB plainly said that color has green in it, then when people get them they complain that there is green in it? I don't see why anyone would want a grey/dark green caliper but hey thats just me. The black ones that I received are exceptional.

There is HUGE difference between a predominatly grey piece with hints of green, and a mostly green piece with a grey hue. I've seen "grey"annodize, and I saw it in the picture that they posted originally of what we were ordering. In the most recent pics I don't see ANY grey.

I'll wait to recieve my set before I make a final decision.... but right now I anticiapte trying to send these back and get one of the other colors.

Installing my RB rears were just as easy as doing the stocks. Except that I used an air powered cutting wheel to only remove the lip of the shield. The bolts are for the fronts if I had read correctly. Stock fasteners for the rears.

This swap is easy, why are people making it seem difficult?

Hey all,

I had a request to post another picture of the RB caliper I received, this time without a flash.

I took this on the floor of my garage just now under fluorescent light with no flash. For reference there is a can of grey primer and a mud flap with silver stone metallic paint in the frame.

As you can see, it's definitely green, much more so than the original pics of the caliper.



I'm now very curious if this was intentional or if the finish process was messed up...

Im not trying to make it difficult, I just want to make sure its done correctly. A lot of thought and engineering has been put into these and I want to be sure that every last bit of time designing these suckers will be appreciated with a correct install.

I dont remember where I read it, probably in an earlier post, but I think that whole shield must be removed becuase the rotors are designed to vent in from both faces of the rotor. So with that shield still there, youre only getting cool air vented in from the front.

What I didnt want to do is go in and hack away at something that may still be needed in the future.
