Freeze Damage Pics - LeMons FD
Everyone loves carnage pics of busted engines. Enjoy.
We have began tear down of the freeze damaged engine from our FD. It froze to death on the trailer ride home from ECR last February.
This was a great engine that made it four races since its last rebuild. Some of the parts have been in many races! In fact, the rotors were the same 200,000 mile rotors we used in our very first LeMons race!
In NA form this engine made 210 rear wheel hp in the RX2. The car was rolled several times and then the engine was transplanted into the FD with the addition of a Chinese turbo. In turbo form it made 331 hp to the wheels and survived three more LeMons races (one of them a 24 hour event)!
Upon first inspection of the engine, it was found to have a blown rear freeze plug and a shattered water pump housing. These were replaced but the engine would only run on one rotor and oil would shoot out the dipstick and all over everything / anyone nearby.
After teardown of the engine here is what we found:

Side seals chewed off. One apex seal was jammed in the groove and bent.
SO, anyone out there have a set of S4 rotors? Turbo or NA. LeMony prices please.

^^^ Contact Brian Pollock with Property Devaluation Racing. They are always looking for drivers and field fox bodied hoopties with 302 power plants.
If you gotta go Rotary, we are debuting the REPU at ECR for that race. It will have an S4 T2 drivetrain but handle like a 40 year old REPU thats been sitting in a field for a decade - so there's that.
If we had enough interest, help, and cash we could field the FC or FD too. Maybe. We would need more than just an arrive and drive to make a second entry possible. Really would need some hands turning wrenches and cash.
