I'm also in the process of doing this. It's going into my 88 10th AE. I'm getting rid of the stock twins in favor of a single 60-1.

13B-RE mounts the same as an FC engine, no? Mounts to center housing.

Might not be a drop-in replacement for an FD, in other words.

But for an engine swap, hell why not... just scrape off the stock turbos and put something decent on there

Where do you get the rear housing so you can mate the Cosmo to a manual transmission?

you can use an fd housing, and a turbo 2 housing. acutally the stock cosmo housing bolts up fine, it only has one bolt different

i'm confused. i thought the FD side housings couldn't be mixed into other engines without using all three FD side housings because the FD intake ports down down in at an angle instead of straight in like earlier engines. i'd imagine you could *either* use an fd rear plate, *or* a t2 rear plate, depending on if the cosmo has the angled or straight intake ports.

Well, if you wanted to put the engine in a FD and not have to fabricate a way of mounting it...

A used Cosmo engine, a new FD rear plate, and necessary gaskets, still come out to be cheaper than a used FD engine. What worries me is the intake port size/plcement... ah well.

I guess I kinda missed where you were going with that. If you know what FD intake ports look like on the outside I could go out to the garage and take a quick shot of my cosmo engine if you wanted to compare (intake is off right now). But I'm pretty sure cosmo/FD ports won't line up right with out a lot of porting.

we used an fd intake gasket on the 13b re fc we are doing, so the intake bolt patterns are the same

Cosmo secondary ports are 5mm bigger than an FD engine.

The FD (13B-REW) plates can be ported to the same size as the 13B-RE but it's a whole lot of work. Trust me I've done it!
On my FC I only had to fab one mount. I drilled and tapped the the bottom of the RE block to accept the factory passenger's side FC mount. On the driver's side I also used the factory FC mount but I added a little extra material so as to be able to use the bolts on the RE's block.
BTW. The process is pretty much the same when using the FD block in the FC chassis.
