T04 manifold/Wastegate Questions

After searching for a couple days i have been unable to find a manifold that fits my application and need some input from you guy's. I have a 1983 rx with a 91 turbo 2 with a t04 turbo and a 50mm wastegate and a XS-POWER manifold. The problem is the shop I go to says that the wastegate pipe needs to be at least two inches in diameter in order to avoid boost spike??? I have been unable to find one with a two inch pipe or a place that I can have a tubular manifold custom made to my specs and clear everything. Attached are some pics of the setup let me know what you guy's think thanks a lot.

that looks like one sick set-up...not sure how to answer your question though.

I'm not sure that is the only way to avoid boost creep. I guess you are having issues now?

I've experienced the same thing on those manifolds. There are a lot of places, including us, who can make you a manifold however you want...

does the boost settle back down?

I wonder if a pop off valve would be a more cost effective/less time consuming adjustment...and it would keep your super fast spooling characteristic.

Whoever fabbed the charge pipe should be able to do a manifold. That flare from the turbo to the IC is trick as hell. Very nice looking car!

I gotta agree, the car is absolutely gorgeous (that charge pipe is WELL fabricated), its a shame it has a POS SSAutoChrome manifold, is it a SSAChrome turbo as well?? (sure does look like one)? The shitty design of the XS-Power / SSAutoCrapper manifold wastegates from the rear rotor mostly. Move the wastegate closer to the turbo flange and I'm willing to bet it will work more effectively without going to a huge 2" diameter. But I more of less think you should get a proper manifold/turbo built and ditch the eBay junk and do that gorgeous car/engine work justice having both better response (less lag) and overall more power and less strain on the engine)

No the turbo is a garrett so i think at least the turbo is good, but the manifold due to the lack of room was the only one that would fit under these conditions so i think i am going to have to go with a custom manifold to make this setup work the way it should. And for having them do the manifold it took them a year and a half to get them to do the ic pipeing as nice as they did so a manifold is out of the question though it would be nice if they were that skilled.

FWIW we've used the 2nd gen HKS cast manifold with turbo FBs before and they fit fine. We did not have boost creep or spike issues with a street ported engine and a small .81, p-trim hotside. The wastegate was a Tial 44mm.

Location of the turbo looks to be similar as what we had with the HKS. Would be a shame if you have to move the turbo and rework the charge pipe. I love that piece incase I didn't make that clear already.
