so...how much was it?

hello everyone.
i am relatively new to the fd, but have done quite a bit of reasearch. ive found out that going single is pretty much the way to go, takes away all the hassles of boosting issues, clears up the engine bay, and, with proper tuning, gives safe reliable power. anyhow, i do know that it is supposed to leave a big dent in the wallet. i want to know how much did each one of your single setups come out to be, including the necessary hardware (ecu, ic, etc.). my car is pretty much stock and i would be leaning towards the gt35/40r kit that sean from a-spec makes - bow down to the great fabricator. i appreciate your time guys, thanks.

Anyways, because you are starting out stock, you can count on 10K to 12K.

Turbo Kit. 3K
ECU 1K
Fuel 1K
FMIC 1K
Reliablity mods 1K
Tuning 500
Misc Crap not thought about in the first place 1K
Labor 2K to 4K (just guessing on this one)

Good luck

I'm in the process of doing this right now. I would say on a bone stock car $10-12k might even a bit conservative. You will probably want a little more than the bare minimum.

You're probably looking at this:

New ported motor: $3k
Turbo kit: $3k to $5k+ depending on what you want
FMIC: ~$1k
Fuel system: $800
Exhaust (MP + Catback): $500-1k+
Reliabilty stuff: atleast $1k
ECU: $1k+ depending on which one you go with
Clutch: ~$500
Misc.: atleast $1k when its all said and done
Labor: this for me came out to about $2k engine, turbo, FMIC...everything
Tuning: atleast a good $500

That's probably what you need to set it up and not really have to worry about the engine or anything for awhile.

But at some point you"re going to have to worry about the differential, suspension etc.

For me the bill is coming to around $11k but I already had a good amount of parts on my car before the motor blew and went to KDR.

I agree Sean is a great fabricator and spends countless hours trying to get a quality product for everyone.... regarding the pricing... im thinking roughly $7k-$11K is a safe bet

if you "search" you might find some pricing figures!

good luck!

If its anything like rebuilding an engine, do a budget, then double it and add 10-15%, and thats probabily about where you'll end up.

Dont ask how I know.

The A-Spec guys are great!

As far as cost, if you buy everything new, then yeah, chances are you'll hit that $10k mark. If you can find good used parts, then it can be significantly cheaper. Other than the turbo kit itself and some other small new parts and a little labor it's not that bad. I'll post my costs sometime. I installed most everything myself which saves greatly on costs.
