Okay, I purchased another FD so I'm going to try out either a Synapse Synchronic 50mm wastegate or a JGS500 50mm wastegate. There's only good things said about both of them so I'm unsure what to do here. Please share your experiences and "educated" theories as to which is "better" or is the better choice. Thanks for reading...

^I figured you would pick the JGS. You've put a plug in a thread when I searched for the JGS. Plus they're a top choice for many drag racers...

I bought synapse cuz I got a brand new 50mm for like 290 shipped or something stupid cheap from someone desperate for money .

 

All I've ever had experience with is HKS and Tial wastegates. I've only had a couple problems with Tial's but I think the problem was more-so related to the wastegate being "undersized" for the application. I need a minimum of a 50mm wastegate now a Tial 44mm will no longer cut it for me.

On my last 42r setup I built the 44mm initially creeps up and settles down. I've cured the problem by increasing the balance setting on the Profec b. Also, wastegate location was not an issue with the setup and the reference for the vacuum was right at the compressor cover. Again, don't get me wrong I love Tial's I'm just looking to give something else a shot. The other intriguing thing is the "newer" technology that's incorporated with the other wastegates.

Synapse gives you adjustability, JGS comes with various springs so you can pick your region and have an assortment of springs for that area.
There's always deals out there on the internet for each wastegate so we're not looking at the monetary values here. I'm leaning toward the Synapse because it seems very logical but I've spoken with a couple V8 twin turbo drag racers and they've used the JGS and wont go back to Tial...

 

I swaped from Tial to synapse and it didnt help my creep any. Think its wastegate placement abd turbo size. Its fine at 17-18psi up. I miss the tial as it was simple. Didnt have to run multi lines to it and try and figure all the port settings.
I guess for someone that didnt want to swap springs and could get to the gate easy it would be better than the Tial with the options.
The nylon vac lines synapse sells (push in style) is kick ***!!

 

well it isn't so much being swayed easily. I like some of the features about his designs (lack of surging being #1).

To be honest, I didn't pick up a whole lot reading all 10 pages other than synapse and tial battling it out. To be honest, the Tial guy sounds like a dick (regardless is synapse is OBX quality or not). You've got to give synapse credit here. He's got a new design. If he's using cheap materials to build - well thats another topic.. I think giving synapse enough time, he'll figure things out and improve.

 

why are you running a single gate? why not twin 44's?

 

really there is no real benifit to running twin waste gates for most. look at aspec they sell there kit with a single 44 i think and people boost 20+ psi with no creep problems at all. It also matters on manifold design some manifolds can cause problems with creeping as well as some out there are not made correctly for external wastegate

 

The more boost you run... the less wastegate you need. It seems to me that many people over look this.

1ste one came loose... valve did not shut anymore.

a brand new one hasitate when opening.

 

The main reason to run two wastegates would be for performance. When we speak of performance it's related to a lower boost threshold. I'm willing to "sacrifice" this additional performance for simplicity and half the cost...

 

synapse is crap... Don't believe the hype...

 

In a month I'll post my results with a 50mm synapse on an HX40 running 11 psi street, 21 psi race.
