Ok, I have this Turbonetics turbo here that I want to use on my FC but I am not sure of the size of turbo it is. I measure the wheel and snapped some pics. Can you turbo gurus help me out here and tell me what turbo this is?

Here is what I know:

- Brand new Turbonetics Turbo
- 4" Inlet on the Compressor housing
- 3" v-band .58 hotside with undivided t4 flange
- non ball bearing CHRA uses both coolant and oil
- measurements on the compressor wheel are ~82mm and ~52mm (as you can see in the pics)

Here are a couple of pics I snapped.

Looks like a 60-1 Turbo. And its not 52mm its actually about 59mm according to your caliper in the pic .

whoops typo on my part I meant 82mm and 59mm.

So a 60-1? What makes it a 60-1?

Assuming its all turbonetics;

Its a 59mm inlet compressor with a 4" Inlet compressor housing and a 2.5" outlet and these are the dimensions of a standard 60-1 compressor section....The compressor housing does look like a T series but to my knowledge the smallest compressor section Turbonetics sells in a T series is the T-66 which has a 66mm compressor inlet/minor diam so it can't be a T series. Its hard to tell from the pics the actual size of the Compressor housing on the outside but the T series is about an inch more overall in size.

I think that is what it is.

Chris

p.s.I also know because I used to own one .

Chris is correct, but you will also need to change the hot side. the .58 hotside will choke your engine. You can buy a new hotside from turbonetics for like 200. which is not to bad. they do not call the exhaust wheels the same anymore (O, P, Q etc.) but now all you do is measure the hotside wheel and order accordingly. actually makes more sense.

Looks like a T-series "TS04" garrett wheel 2.300"(58.4mm)/3.304"(83.9mm). Easy way to tell if it's a "60-1" wheel is it has 7 paired blades.

Yup, T-Series TS04 (not to be confussed with a T04S!!). It is a T-Series compressor housing (T04S) and it is a TS04 compressor wheel. The 60-1 has a 7 apired blade design, not 6 as ponted out already. Should be a great turbo with a street ported 13b, after you swap out that turbine housing.

So it's not a 60-1 correct? it does not have 7 paired blades, it only has 6 paired blades.

Is it smaller than a 60-1 or bigger?

How do you guys think it would do on my streetported 13b at about 15psi ?
(have a 15psi spring on my greddy 47mm wastegate)

Well, here are the compressor maps for a TS04 and 60-1. The TS04's inducer is slightly smaller than the 60-1, but the exducer is almost 8mm bigger.

It's not an overly broad map, but will flow 55 lbs/min, so should be good for 400-430 whp.

As you can see, it's a bit broader, and will out-flow the TS04.

Either way, it will work for you. The TS04 can be run at higher boost levels than the 60-1, but can't flow as much at lower boost. On a streetported engine, try it and see how you like it. Either way, you will HAVE to ditch that 0.58 A/R hotside for a .84 or bigger housing.

Im running the 62-1 with the 96 hot side and it gets 500h/p.
I think you should enjoy it at 15 psi.
