masterpower turbo

Who hear runs a masterpower turbo on there rotary? Just would like to hear from people who actually used the turbo? How the quality of the turbo?

Reason is i have one, my friend just used to on his honda but the hot side was way to large and he only put down 424whp, but the turbo on my car is on its way out and since i have it, all itll need is retuned so itll save me some $$ and im not looking for huge power numbers anyway

Which turbo series ? , They were a hit for almost a year on here. ( circa 2005/2006 ) .

It seemed only 2 % of the projects ever came to conclusion ( a lot of dreamers thinking that just having a 500 hp turbo will make a 500 hp car ).

My personal experience ( friends cars ) with master power T70s, They make good power, just match the hot side to your setup. ( one came with a t3 .84 and swapped out for a .96 T4, the other was a special Q trim variant for a bridge motor ).

anyone who pushed the turbo ( track days, etc ) , they seemed to break and not be as reliable as a Garrett, other counterpart so everyone has moved to other turbos. (both guys blew the turbos within 15k )

Now with the huge selection of cheap quality turbos, the masterpower line has lost its "market" , or atleast I think so.

( I bought a 64mm comp variant, MP version of the to4r , but never installed and just went with a garrett 60-1 for known reliability ).

But if you got it for cheap, worth trying !

i owned one.they are still quite popular in nz.problem with the earlier models was there were no compressor maps available.so there was alot of trial going on.they were and are still popular with the guys running rb engines.they do now have maps with the new series.
i had the variant of a to4 cant remember what hot side.was good even with 3" intercooler piping and front mount on fc was on rebuilt stock port.but borg warners are not much more in there pricing down here and went with that for another build .as you know the borgwarners are real cheap for you guys in the states so would have to be getting it cheap to make it worth your while

I'm running a MP T70 with t4 .96 turbine housing.
The turbo has worked out pretty good for me, Car made 481hp @ 23lbs. this was tuned by Steve Kan on a mustang dyno.
the turbo sits on a HKS cast manifold.

car pulls like a beast!

If I remember correctly the MP T70 would be compatible/equal to a T70 turbonetics turbo.
when i did some research about the MP turbo i read that someone took very close measurements of both of these turbos and the MP turbine was only 1 mm smaller(possibly less than that cant remember) on the turbine side and as for the comp. side they both had the same measurements.
might want to do a search for that thread.

I ran one on my TII powered GSL-SE for about a year. I put down 445 whp and it ran like a BEAST, that Lil SE was spanking the Nissan GTR's when they 1st hit the streets.

Sold the car so can't tell you about longevity...

Mp596

I'm running a master power MP596, I'll be dyno tuning on the 4th march so can give you power results after that. We run a lot of these turbos down here in NZ.

I'm expecting 400hp, running a turblown dual waste gate manifold, 850 pri, 1600sec.

Will let you know results if you're interested, from what I've seen of the quality, the turbos look really good, until I get some miles on it I can't really tell though!
