I recently looked into this. Do a search, you will find there is no consensus, but a lot of good info. Here are a couple sources, organized alphabetically, that I consider to be reliable.

Corky Bell recently said to my friend in a phone conversation that 2.0 ID is ideal.

Demetrios said it depends on the turbo; with small turbos (what most of us would call normal turbos eg GT35R) runner size doesn't have much of an impact on spool up, but with large turbos, such as the T88, using smaller runners helps spool up a bit. He mentioned that many people use the T78 manifold with the T88 for this reason.

Carlos Gonzalez, recommends 1.5-1.75 for most applications. I believe his 8 second drag car uses a manifold with a 1.75ID, but I'm not certain of that.

Rice Racing I believe he recommended an ID of 2" but I cannot seem to find the post.

Steve Kan 1.8ID or less.

I would tend to agree with Dee on this one for the most part the smaller turbo's will have a minimum impact, the larger ones benifit more from it, It also depends on port size as well, 1.8-2" for me. Rice said 2" and I'm sure he'd go bigger if he could but thats because you can fit a grapefruit through his ports.

yo bro, how the f@wk was I being a smartass?

What should I have said, "Darling, the ideal dia. for manifold runners is 1.75-1.8 inches."

What I stated was fact, I did read (on a forum from people asking the same exact question) that the ideal dia is 1.75 -1.8 <-verbatim.

thanks for p!ssing me off..... I'm glad some people know how to show thanks for free help/advice.

thanks TwEaK for getting my back.

Diplomacy gentlemen, use diplomacy.

If Dubulup had answered in a nice manner, 93rotorhead
wouldn't have said he was a smartass.

Dubulub could have said "1.75 inch ID is ideal. I used the search function on the forum "

Sorry to turn this post into useless info. Thank Surpac for seeing things my way. TwEak, you cant judge all 3rd gen guys buy a disagreement between me and dubulub or from what I say and do It sounds like you have deeper issues with 3rd gens. Anyway IM SORRY if I hurt anyone feelings by calling them a smartass now we can move on to more useful info. I aslo think everyone who repied even dubulub had very usefull info.

Thanks

just for the record...

I said "I read" to differentiate from fact...I've never built a manifold so I don't know. (could have said "heard"...but I read it)

No smartass remarks were made on my end, so I got pissed when you called me a smartass.

lock thread...answer is there.

OK, I never built a manifold either but I hope it all turns out ok . I think the runners will be 1.75 but when they meet the flange is still a little fussy.
