Making a manifold

What kinda pipe should i use, also schedual 10 or 40? thanks

Using schedule 40 is safe because it has less chance of cracking. It also depends on what size tubing you're gonna run also because that changes how much heat the manifold will produce.

The wall thickness has nothing to do with the ability to withstand cracking. If you can't weld, nothing will hold up. If you're handy with the torch, sch10 is more than enough. Cheaper, lighter... Sch40 will retain heat slightly better, so it depends on what you're after.
2" sch10 pipe would be fairly ideal as the OD is 2.162", giving you the slight anti reversion lip that you'd want. Full penetration welds. Perfect...

2" sch10 is exactly what i was thinking......

type i am think 304...that sound good?

Actually wall thickness has alot to do with the ability to crack. Thicker wall= less heat. Less heat and a thicker weld will definitely mean less chance of cracking. You're best bet is to make sure you penetrate fully and back purge your tubing to add extra strength on the backside of your weld.

Im using sched 40 304ss from mcmaster carr

Im also going to say that syncowave's are awesome welders. I have a Syncrowave 250 i bought for a song and a dance. Welds great from 1/8 steel butt welded to the 2" solid round to the 3" od 2"id 6061 tube ive had to push it too

talk to A-SPEC thats where i am getting my stainless schedule 10. they use that tubing in all their manifolds and they are only like 1 7/8 dia.

"it runs off tears of small children" lmao...thats comedy.. my manifold was home grown, used racing beat's piping...it already cracked once. anyone know a good source of material?
