low boost

O.K. I have my car running very well in vacuum again, after chasing some problems, but now I can't seem to make much boost. In 3rd at 4k I am barely making 5 lbs. of boost and rarely ever make more than 6 or 7lbs even at 7k rpms. That is usually when its colder. I make NO boost in 1st and little (2 to 3lbs.) in second. I know my waste gate is not leaking or opening early because I would hear it. My timing may be a little conseritive but not bad. Turbo has 4k on it. Plugs are new BUR9EQP's. I would like to hear all of the possibilities so don't assume any more than I have mentioned to be true.

Help please.....

O.K. guys Im still suffering here. Somebody else must have had this problem. My 87' T2 won't boost like it should and I am getting a little restless. What, in my set up, would keep the boost down. Would too rich a condition? What about too lean? I do not have any detination. Coils and plugs are good but could I have some ignition problem. Sometimes in first above 6k and it acts like a rev limiter. Give me something to work with here.

well your running a 1.15 hot side UNDIVDED on a nonported motor... switch out to a divided turbo and manifold or to a smaller hot side... spinning a big turbo like that with an undivided manifold... i just dont see it happening, hence explaining why you have little to no boost in 1st and 2nd..

Make sure your wastegate flange isn't leaking.

All good ideas guys, thanks. I will check the wastegate flange tonight. All intercooler hoses have been checked. Its what importbio22 said that has me thinking. I do have a street ported motor but I believe that its the large DIVIDED exhaust turbine housing and UNDIVIDED manifold that is the problem. I was to get a divided manifold but ended up with an undivided one and I just don't think they match up well enough to work. What could I expect with say a .81 or .96 undivided turbine housing? I know the .81 is small for top end but is .96 small enough to make a difference? I am ready to give up some top end for better response and more power up to 7k. Turbo experts, the floor is yours...

i ran a 60-1 with a 1.32 p trim rear on a stock unported motor with full boost by 4000, i think something else is a miss there, id be looking at the wastegate and intercooler pipes, check for leaks.
