Oh, sorry about that. From the pictures it looked like you were going for more than 300hp. All of the shiny stuff distracted me, lol. The RU-2520 should work just fine.

I would still try and get a bigger filter on it.
I used to run a smallish 6" long x 4" base x 3" top on my stock FC turbo, and it would max out at 9-10psi.
I switched to a generic 3" ID flange cone, approximate 8" long x 6" base x 5" top with inner funnel filter media, and the boost response was quicker and max boost went up to 12psi.
This was just the air filter swap!
In this case, it's always advantageous to run the biggest air filter you can fit.

I dunno how much more space you got in there, but it's hard to tell with that one pic.
I got a customer car that uses a larger RE-860 (I think) that uses a bend pipe section to allow it to sit offset to the turbo inlet...

Turbo is a Turbonetics 60-1 BB.

I am shooting for more than 300hp...low 400s and i will be happy. I will try and dyno this weekend but will just do it with the filter off...

Here's an even better picture showing the space i am working with...I think I have about 1.5" clearance forward. Whadda ya tink?

Yeah, there really isn't any downside to getting a filter that is larger than required.

Evil Aviator K&N filter rule of thumb (which hopefully isn't any more stupid than the other stupid internet guidelines, lol.):

HP = Filter Media Area sq in * 4.53

Good for about 275hp.

I think you need to rework that radiator setup so you can run a filter that won't choke your turbo.

You'll want a filter with at least 96-100 square inches for 400 RWHP. If using a cone type, that's approximately 7" long with a 5.5" base and 4.5" top.

I think mine is an 8" long filter with 5" or 6" base and 4" top.

Here's a pic of mine on with A-Spec's GT35R and modified M2 air box.

Perfect...I'm getting that one...Looks like we have the same clearance issues.

Thanks much!

Yeah, we have near identical setups, well except I've got a bigger cone!
I know a few people that have pushed 500 rwhp with that filter, so it should work just fine. However the space constraints do concern me, and I'm trying to find a way to get any cold air to the filter. I've even contemplated removing the passenger oil cooler and making a CAI in it's place.

Same here. I have an idea to run a scoup under the car. and somehow funnel air up to the filter...It would be a kinda of a round about way if it came straight up infront of the rad where the drivers side IC pipe comes up...Don't know if it would be worth it for the amount of air that would actually get in there.

I saw someone in the 3rd gen forum cut away some of the liner where the fan relays are and put some mesh there....I think everyone jumped all over him about getting water inside the bay and potentially the filter...BUT if you don't drive in the rain and only fair weather then it's no biggie...

I want to go dyno tomorrow and If I do I will probably just dyno without the filter.

LOL, glad you can use the info. I'm at a different computer than I normally use, and this dang Windows Vista is confusing me by keeping web pages up in tabs even after I think I left the site.
