Installing Apexi kit...

I'm going to be installing the Apexi RX6 kit soon and am putting together all the stuff I need to do it now. Does anyone who has this kit have any recommendations for parts. Like, is reusing the stock secondary injectors and rail for primary ok? Should I spring for the 1600 injectors? Do I really need to worry about upgraded ignition or fuel pump? Didn't see anything on this in the archive. Thanks.

It all depends on what your power goals are. I have 850 primaries, 1200 secondaries, rp fuel pump, etc. which kit is it, does it allow you to retain stock air pump?

I have the old RX6 and would strongly recommend upgraded fuel pump, upgraded IC, injectors (I have 1300 secs.) and standalone engine mgmt (I have the Power FC)

dick lambert has an RX6 setup with 550 primary and 1300 secondary and the car FLIES. Steve Kan tuned it and it made a MAJOR difference. of course the car has an Apexi Power FC, is street ported and a fairly straight thru exhaust etc. i had done some tuning on it w Dick's Dataloggit and had it reasonably right but the difference Steve made as to the car's performance was a real eye opener. the RX6 is a mid hp turbo and the car runs like it has Jason's Majestic-built turbo. unfortunately Dick hasn't had it at the strip or on the dyno but i will talk him into it early next spring. Dick does have a Cosmo pump.
good luck,

i use the rx6 kit. and i run 550/1300injectors, nippondenso fuel pump, gt spec intercooler, hks twin power ignition and a apexi pfc. personally i would recommend you get everything now. the car ran like *** before i got the twin power. and now i finally got the clutch installed its a blast to drive around.

go with the 550 primaries and 1300 secondaries. Yes you need a fuel pump as well as an ignition amp, spark plug wires (magnecore), and also iridium spark plugs or else you might misfire at higher boost levels

Try to do a little research on the 1300 before using them.
Not that I am saying they are bad, I just would avoid them if it were my choice.

I installed one the other day. I wasn't too happy with how the downpipe was designed. Its pretty annoying to get to some of the bolts, especially the wastegate. If the trans is still in the car, you'll have to leave the downpipe loose so you can get the wastegate in. A 1/4 drive ratchet with a swivel 10mm socket is almost essential because of the stupid placement of the piping and flanges. Gear wrenches help too. Don't tighten the bolt that secures the downpipe to the tranny untill last. As for the 1300cc inhjectors, get rid of them. They have too high of a failure rate. An injector is not desined to be bore dout and flow more than it was originally intended. Get some 1600s and a fuel rail.

yeah, i went with the 1600 injectors and rail from RP. you think the 550s will be okay in primary then? i guess the secondaries are what really matter. i thought some people used the 850 stock secondaries as primaries in this setup, but i just pulled 'em and they're like 1/4" shorter than the stock (550) primaries. the inlet and top O rings line up, but the nozzle-side O ring and nozzle tip are deeper in the socket. any idea what the protocol is for reusing these?

thanks for all the help.

ah, forget it. i found someone else with the same question and the solution online. gonna just stick with the 550s i think, at least for now. i don't plan to make any more than 500 at the flywheel, so i should be cool .
