Hooking up a LM-1 and a automter a/f gauge. Quick question.

This may not be in the correct forum, but I feel that I get more quality responses to my questions in this forum. That, and I don't feel that there realy is a correct place for my question.

Anyways, I'm running the LM-1 for my wide band. The biggest pain is that its extremely large, and kinda hard to read when accelerating hard. So I've put it in my glove box. Now, what I was thinking was that I have a Autometer a/f gauge laying around from the days of my n/a Rx-7 days. And seeing as its hard to keep an eye on the a/f ratio while doing hard runs, I wanted to hook it upto my Autometer. The only problem I've having is that I don't know how many volts it runs off of. Is the guage a 0~5v or what? I just need to know this so I can setup my LM-1 correctly. Any help would be great. CJ

Check out this link:

http://hp.autometer.com/instruction_...tions/837j.pdf

On the last page of the instructions there is a voltage chart that shows at what voltage the various LEDs on the Autometer gauge light up. You need to program one of the LM-1 analog outputs to corespond to the volotages taht are listed on the Autometer instruction sheet. Once you have your voltage curve programmed into the LM-1 and you connect the analog output wire to the gauge the lights will work properly. The Autometer gauge is basically a 0-1V gauge, but you can make it work since the LM-1 allows you to program the output voltage to whatever you need.

Your welcome. I had the exact same setup working, so I am sure it will work for you. By playing around with the LM-1 programming you can pretty much make any LED light up on the Autometer gauge. So you can make the green LEDs light up at say 11:1 AFR and the yellow LEDs light up at 12:1 AFR. Pretty much any combination that you wanted. I would also program in a little bit of a delay into the output that goes to the gauge. That way the LEDs aren't jumping around TOO fast. Good luck!

So, what exactly was youre setup andrewb70?

I put mine at a 0v = 15 a/f ratio, and 1v = 10.0 a/f ratio. I'm yet to test it...but I'm hoping it works correct. CJ

I had a chance to test it on Sunday. I'm honestly very happy with it. Something I wish I would have done along time ago. I am going to adjust the voltage a bit....going to run 0v=15 a/f and 1v=11 a/f. This way under WOT, the guage should read full green. And if it does'nt, its time to back off of it. CJ
