GT30 usable?

I've got a darn near brand new GT30 BB turbo. has .84AR T3 exhaust housing.
Garrets data says 475hp, but I can't find a compressor map anywhere.

Useful for a ported S5 13B wanting to make a reliable 300-350whp?

I think that it would run out of juice pretty early.... I'd pass on it personally, but then again I like more than 300-350.

For a target of 300-350, I think you could make that around 14 PSI.... I haven't seen any dynos of this turbo on an RX-7... will yours be the first ?

That's a pretty small turbo for a rotary... I'm sure it'd spool like mad but it'd be chocking the exhaust gases up higher... Especially a ported one..

Yes, I agree with 2a+RoN, it would spool like nuts.

I could get a different exhaust housing for it, I'm sure of it. If I changed out the housing, do you think it would work? I mean, I know a lot of guys using old school T4's P trim exhaust wheels, which are a lot bigger than the GT series stuff.

What about a 1.06A/R T3 housing or something???

that'll probably get a little more out of it. But if you are only looking for that much hp, I say go for it and be the guinea pig! It would be hella fun for autox that's for sure.

Ok guys, heres a update to the question.

Since I've got a few $$ tied up in this now, and honda guys want to buy it for 200$ , I guess I'm stuck with it for the time being. Motor will have stock ports for a bit, maybe a month or 2.

.84 ar, T3 footprint, whats the guess on power to the ground? S5 motor (GTX).
You think I could make at least 325whp? I've got the fuel and supporting components for lots more, but in this case, the car will come together much quicker, less $$, etc..

Of course, if I can find someone to actually pay for it (1000?), I'll get a T04E or something along those lines.

Click on the picture of the catalog. The download is slow, but it works.

You could buy another GT30. Here is a dyno of a 13B with twin GT30 turbos.

Why can't you just go back to the dealer and trade in your GT30 on a larger turbo?

the dealer is the one that set me up with this thing, which turned out to be the wrong size for the customer. Turbo ran for 20 minutes, we pulled it off. They mis-sized it, then didn't want to help out replacing it with something that would work. Customer didn't pay, now I'm stuck with the thing.

If a FD at 17psi on 2 of these things only pulled 425hp, I'm doubting anything more than 300 on a single one. Who knows. The whole situation stinks, but thus is the cost of doing business and keeping your customers happy. The supplier will remain un-named, but won't be getting any more orders from me.

Quest to sell continues....
